Field Enumerator

In the face of an evolving climate crisis, the stability of rural African communities depends on accurate, actionable data. The Role of a Field Enumerator is the frontline of this mission, transforming the lived experiences of smallholder farmers into the insights needed to drive sustainable development. By joining this project, you become a vital link in ensuring that humanitarian interventions are precise, impactful, and culturally grounded.

Job Summary

The Field Enumerator will serve as the primary point of contact between our organization and local farming communities, responsible for the high-quality collection of field data and ground-level observations. Your contributions will directly inform the design of climate-smart agricultural programs, helping to measure progress and identify the specific needs of vulnerable rural populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Data Collection: Conduct detailed interviews and surveys with rural households, ensuring all data points are captured accurately and ethically.
  • Community Engagement: Act as a professional ambassador for the foundation, fostering trust and maintaining transparent communication with community leaders and local youth groups.
  • Technical Documentation: Utilize digital tools and traditional research methods to document field findings, ensuring data integrity and timely submission.
  • Partnership Support: Coordinate with local stakeholders and youth organizations to facilitate smooth field operations and logistics.
  • Quality Assurance: Adhere strictly to project protocols and ethical guidelines to ensure that all information collected meets international humanitarian standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) is required; a Master’s degree (MA/MSc/MBA) in a relevant field (Agriculture, Statistics, Social Sciences) will be viewed favorably.
  • Professional Experience: 1 to 10 years of experience (role level dependent) with a proven track record in field-based operations or donor-funded humanitarian projects.
  • Interpersonal Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage youth collectives and build productive partnerships across diverse social groups.
  • Thematic Knowledge: Prior exposure to climate-smart agriculture, rural development, or humanitarian aid contexts is highly desirable.
  • Core Competencies: Strong organizational skills, a commitment to professional ethics, and the ability to adapt to the physical and social demands of rural fieldwork.

Why This Role Matters

Data is the backbone of effective aid. Without the dedication of Enumerators, the specific challenges faced by farmers in Benue—ranging from soil degradation to erratic weather patterns—would remain invisible to policymakers. This role is essential for turning local challenges into global solutions.

Benefits of Applying

  • Professional Growth: Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge digital innovation in the NGO sector.
  • Purpose-Driven Work: Contribute to the long-term food security and economic stability of Nigeria’s “Food Basket.”
  • Networking: Build connections with international donors, local agricultural experts, and community leaders.

Salary Expectations

Competitive (Commensurate with experience and based on NGO scales).
