THE MISSION

The Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN), in partnership with UNICEF, is implementing a critical initiative to reach “Zero-Dose” children—those who have not received any routine vaccinations. We are seeking mission-driven LGA Consultants to lead grassroots implementation, community mobilization, and stakeholder engagement at the local government level.

This role is for field-ready professionals who can bridge the gap between high-level health strategy and community-level action, ensuring every child is reached and tracked.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Field Implementation & Mobilization

  • Support the LGA Health Educators in executing approved work plans and budgets within the assigned LGA.
  • Lead engagement activities with faith leaders, Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), influencers, and Ward Development Committees (WDCs).
  • Support advocacy events and Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) activities at the ward level.
  • Document and verify the functionality of defaulter tracking mechanisms across all wards.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with LGA officials, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent CHAN at LGA health review meetings and planning forums.
  • Facilitate dialogue between health facilities and local government authorities to improve health policy implementation at the grassroots.

3. Monitoring, Reporting & Administration

  • Oversee data collection and analysis from LGA-level activities to ensure evidence-based reporting.
  • Critical Requirement: Manage all financial retirements for activities, ensuring transparency and adherence to project budgets.
  • Submit comprehensive weekly ward-level mobilization reports and monthly LGA implementation summaries.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

  • Monthly LGA implementation and performance reports.
  • Activity and meeting reports accompanied by full financial retirements.
  • Community dialogue feedback logs and advocacy visit summaries.
  • Validated reports on ward-level functional defaulter tracking.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Education: Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or CHO/CHEW certification with significant field experience.
  • Experience: * 3–5 years of field experience in community mobilization and Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) activities.
    • Deep familiarity with LGA health systems and local actors in the preferred state of application.
  • Essential Skills: * CRITICAL: Strong skills in administrative, logistics, and financial management (retirements).
    • Excellent facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attributes: Cultural sensitivity and the ability to navigate diverse sociocultural dynamics. Willingness to begin the engagement immediately is required.
