THE OPPORTUNITY

​The Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN), in partnership with UNICEF, is launching the Zero-IT Project to strengthen health systems and reach zero-dose children across Nigeria. We are seeking meticulous and highly ethical State Finance and Administration Officers to manage the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the project at the state level.

​This role is ideal for finance professionals who thrive in a fast-paced development environment and are committed to the highest standards of transparency and donor compliance.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Financial Management & Compliance

  • Account Management: Maintain the state project account, ensuring timely processing of approved expenditures in strict alignment with the work plan and budget.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, and retirement of advances according to CHAN and UNICEF standards.
  • Controls: Implement robust financial controls and safeguards to prevent errors or irregularities, ensuring “audit-ready” documentation at all times.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all Nigerian tax regulations and organizational policies.

2. Administrative & Logistical Operations

  • Asset Management: Track project assets, supplies, and inventory, maintaining up-to-date registers.
  • Procurement: Coordinate state-level procurement activities, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and documentation.
  • Logistics: Facilitate arrangements for trainings, field visits, and project activities, including travel, accommodation, and materials.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain a secure and organized filing system for all financial and administrative records for easy retrieval.

3. Coordination & Liaison

  • ​Liaise with the State Ministry of Health, UNICEF field offices, and other partners to support project implementation.
  • ​Provide periodic financial and administrative updates to the CHAN Project Management Team and Headquarters.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is required.
  • Experience: * Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded environment.
    • Preferred: Direct experience working on UNICEF or UN-funded projects.
    • ​Proven experience in grants management, donor reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Technical Skills: * Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and professional accounting software.
    • ​Strong understanding of Nigerian financial regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Personal Attributes: * Unwavering integrity, transparency, and accountability.
    • ​Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
    • ​Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic, field-based environment.
