Delight Affection Foundation (DAF) is a non-governmental organization, founded in 2019 due to our passionate desire to reach vulnerable individuals, affected by crises or natural disasters, giving them a reason to embrace life with renewed optimism, to build up and enhance the quality of their lives by eliminating barriers to opportunities, promoting self-growth, empowerment for a sustainable living and reduction of hunger and malnutrition. DAF is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO/136863) and Borno State Agency for Coordination of Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Response (BACSDAHR) No: BACSDAHR/REG/DAF/L/0145, Network of Civil Society Organizations Borno State and other necessary bodies.

Our interventionisin humanitarian emergency response at the moment, Delight Affection Foundation (DAF) has a physical presence in Borno State and is planning full operation in Yobe State and North West State. We are operating on self-funding with some support from the WASH sector in Nigeria, Victims of Violence Charity Foundation (VOV), and Albarka Health Spring Foundation(AHSF), NEMA NEZ.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Officer (Volunteer)

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Organization: Delight Affection Foundation (DAF)
Type: Volunteer (Unpaid)

Role Overview

  • The Nutrition Officer (Volunteer)will support DAF’s nutrition interventions by promoting Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices, facilitating community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), and strengthening maternal and child health awareness.
  • The officer will ensure quality program delivery, effective community engagement, and integration of nutrition-sensitive approaches across sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of nutrition-specific programs (IYCF, CMAM, micronutrient supplementation, growth monitoring).
  • Facilitate nutrition education sessions, cooking demonstrations, and awareness campaigns.
  • Mobilize and train community health volunteers and mother-to-mother support groups.
  • Conduct malnutrition screening, referral, and follow-up for children and vulnerable groups.
  • Collaborate with WASH, Food Security, Education, and Protection teams to integrate nutrition-sensitive approaches.
  • Document and report on activities, successes, and challenges in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accountability to affected populations (AAP), gender equity, and cultural sensitivity in all interventions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.Sc / HND in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Community Health, Food Science, or related field.
  • Prior experience in nutrition programming, IYCF, or CMAM (paid, voluntary, or internship) is an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and community mobilization skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
  • Basic reporting and documentation skills.
  • Passion for humanitarian and development work, with commitment to DAF’s values of compassion, accountability, inclusivity, and resilience.
