ROLE OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Registrar, the Registrar, Verbatim Report is responsible for the strategic supervision, monitoring, and coordination of court proceeding recordings and transcriptions. The incumbent ensures the production of high-quality verbatim reports of all Court sessions in the three (3) official working languages (English, French, and Portuguese) in a timely manner for Judges and stakeholders. This role provides direct leadership to the Senior Court Reporters, Court Reporters, and Assistant Reporters.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Unit Supervision: Lead and coordinate the activities of the Verbatim Reporting Unit to meet judicial deadlines.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure all recording equipment is functional, tested, and ready for every Court session.
- Judicial Collaboration: Partner with Judges to ensure smooth proceedings and the accurate capture of legal arguments.
- Transcription Management: Guarantee the production of full, accurate, and timely records of all court proceedings across all three official languages.
- Reporting: Generate monthly status reports on the progress of transcriptions and the overall status of verbatim report proceedings.
- Institutional Support: Perform related legal-administrative tasks as assigned by the President, Chief Registrar, or Deputy Chief Registrar.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Master’s degree in Law or an equivalent legal degree from a recognized university.
- Experience: * Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative law or related judicial areas.
- At least two (2) years of relevant international work experience.
- At least five (5) years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Legal Mastery: Demonstrated competence in administrative law and judicial procedures, with the ability to edit the complex legal work of others.
- Research Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct comprehensive legal research on unique or complex international law issues.

- Multicultural Diplomacy: Diplomacy and respect for diverse cultural views within West Africa, ensuring an inclusive environment for multinational teams.
- Communication: Proficiency in oral and written French and English is required. Accuracy in technical writing (legal blueprints, business processes) is essential.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to break down complex legal situations into simple terms using diagrams and effective expository writing.
- Operational Excellence: Knowledge of program management (MSP or PgMP certification is an advantage).
