POSITION OVERVIEW
MSF France is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Waste Area Technician to join our project in Jahun, Jigawa State. This role is vital to ensuring the safety of our medical facilities, staff, and the surrounding community. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of medical and general waste, the maintenance of waste-area infrastructure (such as incinerators or pits), and the strict enforcement of health and safety protocols.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Waste Management & Safety
- Handling: Ensure the safe reception, segregation, and disposal of medical and non-medical waste according to MSF protocols.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain the security of the waste area and ensure the consistent and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Environment: Ensure all activities comply with environmental standards to prevent contamination or safety risks.
2. Maintenance & Infrastructure
- Technical Support: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on waste-area tools and infrastructure.
- Repairs: Carry out first-level repairs on equipment to ensure zero downtime in waste processing.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a highly organized, clean, and secure workspace at all times.
3. Stock & Reporting
- Inventory: Manage tools and consumables (e.g., fuel, bags, PPE) using stock cards and regular inventories to prevent shortages.
- Documentation: Keep accurate logbooks and incident reports; immediately report any safety risks or damages to the line manager.

Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in waste management, WATSAN (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), or technical logistics is highly desirable.
