POSITION OVERVIEW
International Medical Corps (IMC) is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Nurse to join our emergency response team in Damboa. The principal objective of this role is to manage acute malnutrition as part of basic health services in alignment with national and international guidelines. You will be responsible for the nutritional rehabilitation of admitted children, treating medical complications associated with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), and providing life-saving therapeutic care to prevent further deterioration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clinical & Therapeutic Management
- In-Patient Care: Manage the stabilization of children with SAM, ensuring comprehensive medical examinations, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications according to protocols.
- Therapeutic Feeding: Ensure timely preparation and administration of appropriate therapeutic feeds (F-75, F-100) and specialized medicines.
- Protocols: Adhere strictly to national and international protocols for drug administration (antibiotics, antimalarials, etc.) and malnutrition management.
2. Monitoring & Documentation
- Daily Assessments: Carry out daily nutritional status monitoring of severely malnourished children.
- Reporting: Compile statistical data (admission, default, cured, absent, death) and draft activity reports.
- Records Management: Update patient files to track progress and prepare records for daily ward rounds.
3. Counseling & Capacity Building
- Education: Provide nutrition counseling and health education to mothers and caretakers in the Stabilization Center (SC).
- Technical Support: Provide support to staff in the Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) regarding complications associated with SAM.
4. Logistics & Supply Chain
- Stock Management: Ensure adequate availability and pre-positioning of drugs and nutrition supplies.
- Inventory: Maintain accurate supply consumption reports.

Education & Licensing
- Qualification: Registered Nurse with a Degree in Nursing from a recognized institute.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid and current practicing license.
Experience & Skills
- Relevant Background: Over two (2) years of professional experience in CMAM (Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition) and IYCF (Infant and Young Child Feeding) programs.
- Communication: Fluent in English and local languages spoken in Damboa; strong oral and written communication skills.
