POSITION OVERVIEW
The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking a qualified professional to serve as the Community Liaison Office (CLO) Coordinator. Reporting to the Management Officer and guided by the Global Community Liaison Office (GTM/GCLO), you will be the heartbeat of the mission’s morale. You will develop and manage programs tailored to the unique demographics of the Abuja diplomatic community, serving all participating U.S. Government agencies under Chief of Mission authority.
THE EIGHT AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The CLO Coordinator is responsible for executing high-impact programming in the following domains:
- Community Liaison: Acting as a bridge between the community and Embassy management.
- Crisis Management & Security: Providing support and information during emergency situations.
- Employment: Assisting family members in finding professional opportunities.
- Education: Providing resources for schooling and educational transitions.
- Guidance & Referral: Connecting community members with essential local services.
- Communications & Outreach: Managing newsletters, social platforms, and mission-wide updates.
- Welcoming, Orientation & Departures: Ensuring smooth transitions for arriving and departing families.
- Events Planning: Organizing morale-enhancing social and cultural activities.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Eligibility
- Primary Target: U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) – All Agencies.
- Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret level security clearance.
- Availability: Must be able to begin work within 6 weeks of receiving authorization.
Education & Experience
- Education: Completion of at least two (2) years of college or university studies.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in administration, office management, customer service, program management, or public policy.
Knowledge & Skills
- Institutional Knowledge: A deep understanding of the Foreign Service community and Federal Government structure.
- Technical Proficiency: Standard knowledge of Microsoft Office and program monitoring principles.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to draft, edit, and publish professional correspondence.
- Adaptability: Must thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with non-traditional schedules and frequent disruptions.
