Note: This position involves travel between the WASH/NTD integrating states and within various LGAs.
Success Blueprint: WASH State Facilitator
The WASH State Facilitator role is a technical-heavy position that requires a unique blend of engineering, public health, and social advocacy skills. To stand out, focus your application on these three pillars:
1. The “WASH + NTD” Integration
The core of this project is the integration of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene with Neglected Tropical Diseases (like Schistosomiasis or Soil-Transmitted Helminths).
- The Strategy: In your CV, don’t just talk about building toilets. Talk about how sanitation prevents disease. Mention your experience with Mass Administration of Medicine (MAM) and how WASH infrastructure supports health outcomes.
- Keywords: “MAM integration,” “Disease prevention,” “Water safety planning.”
2. CLS and the Path to ODF
The primary KPI for this role is certifying 100 ODF communities.
- The Task: You need to show you can move communities from “Open Defecation” to “Open Defecation Free.”
- Pro-Tip: Specifically highlight your experience with Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). If you have successfully led an LGA to ODF status in the past, make this the “Hero Achievement” of your resume.
3. Knowledge Management & Storytelling
This role requires you to produce “Human Interest Stories” and “Case Studies.”
- The Requirement: The supervisor wants to see that you can document progress, not just process.
- Success Factor: Mention any experience you have in project documentation, report writing, or photography for development. Showing that you can turn data into a compelling narrative for advocacy is a major differentiator.
4. Navigating RUWASSA and Government Structures
You will be working with State RUWASSAs and Ministries of Health.
- Soft Skills: Highlight your ability to manage “Third-Party” expectations while providing technical oversight to government staff. Emphasize your experience in Capacity Building and training government officers.
