THE STRATEGIC CONTEXT
The 2026 IBBSS is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s HIV response strategy. As an Interviewer, you are the primary point of contact for behavioral data collection. This role is not just about asking questions; it is about building trust, ensuring ethical compliance, and capturing accurate data that will shape national health policy for years to come.
TYPOLOGY-BASED RECRUITMENT
Positions are strictly recruited based on specific expertise with Key Population typologies. Applicants must indicate their experience in engaging with:
- Female Sex Workers (FSW)
- Men who have Sex with Men (MSM)
- People Who Inject Drugs (PWID)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Collection: Conduct structured behavioral interviews using electronic tablets, following rigorous project protocols and training guidelines.
- Target Management: Meet daily interview quotas and maintain accurate logs of field activities, reporting directly to the Field Supervisor.
- Ethical Standards: Obtain informed consent and maintain absolute confidentiality of participant information.
- Participant Rapport: Create a safe, non-judgmental environment to ensure participants are comfortable sharing sensitive behavioral information.
- Technical Proficiency: Accurately record data on tablets, probe for detail where necessary, and rephrase questions without altering context.
- Team Collaboration: Work in close partnership with Social Mobilizers to ensure seamless participant recruitment and smooth field operations.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS
Education & Technical Skills
- Degree: Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or equivalent.
- Data Expertise: Minimum of 3 years experience in qualitative/quantitative data collection.
- Digital Literacy: Mandatory experience with electronic data collection tools (e.g., ODK, SurveyCTO, or proprietary tablet-based software).
Core Competencies
- KP Sensitivity: Deep understanding of the unique dynamics and vulnerabilities of FSW, MSM, and PWID populations.
- Communication: Ability to listen actively and communicate effectively in the local dialect of the assigned state.
- Residency: Preference is strongly given to candidates currently residing in the selected state.
- Advantage: Prior experience with WACPHD/IGPH or national Key Population surveys.
NATURE OF WORK
This is a contract-based role. Interviewers must be prepared for intensive field activities, requiring discipline, high ethical standards, and the ability to work in diverse community settings.
