THE STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP ROLE

​As a Field Supervisor, you are the tactical anchor of the IBBSS 2026 operation. Reporting directly to the WACPHD State Coordinator, you are responsible for the management of high-performing field teams and the integrity of both biological and behavioral data collection. This role requires a blend of rigorous scientific oversight and sophisticated interpersonal management within sensitive community dynamics.

TYPOLOGY-SPECIFIC OVERSIGHT

​Candidates will be recruited to lead specific teams focusing on:

  • FSW Typology (Female Sex Workers)
  • MSM Typology (Men who have Sex with Men)
  • PWID Typology (People Who Inject Drugs)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tactical Planning: Design and execute daily field activity plans, ensuring all logistics for interviews and biological sample collection are optimized for success.
  • Team Governance: Conduct daily morning briefings and evening debriefs to synchronize team efforts, resolve field challenges, and maintain high morale.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor data collection at every stage—from sampling point selection to interview completion—to ensure strict adherence to project specifications and interviewing standards.
  • Biological Oversight: Supervise the seamless collection and handling of biological samples in tandem with behavioral data.
  • Target Accountability: Performance-manage interviewers to ensure daily data collection targets are consistently met without compromising data integrity.
  • Stakeholder Synergy: Collaborate with Social Mobilizers and KP Community Representatives to ensure maximum security, community buy-in, and operational support.
  • Strategic Reporting: Monitor real-time progress and prepare comprehensive weekly technical reports for the WACPHD State Coordinator.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS

Academic & Professional Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or Health Sciences.
  • Management History: Minimum of 2 years experience managing field research activities involving large-scale quantitative data collection.
  • Technical Savvy: High proficiency in the MS Office Suite and experience with electronic data management platforms.

Key Attributes

  • State Residency: Applicants must reside in the selected state.
  • Linguistic Skills: Ability to speak the local dialect fluently is a major asset for community navigation.
  • KP Expertise: Prior familiarity with Key Population surveys or health interventions (FSW, MSM, PWID) is highly desirable.
  • Legacy Advantage: Previous experience working on WACPHD/IGPH projects is a distinct advantage.

​This is a high-responsibility contractual position. Field Supervisors are expected to demonstrate exceptional ethics, problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain composure in complex field environments.
