VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – MEDICAL DATA PROCESSING OFFICER
Médecins Sans Frontières Holland in Nigeria Limited by Guarantee is an international, private, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization. Our organization offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. We have been working in Nigeria since February 1996. A Memorandum of Understanding between Médecins Sans Frontières-Holland and the Federal Government of Nigeria facilitates this. We are looking to fill a MEDICAL DATA PROCESSING OFFICER position in our Gummi Emergency Nutrition Response Project, Zamfara State.

Main objective and responsibility of the position
Carrying out medical data collection and entry activities into the mission database recording all relevant clinical and demographic data on patients and ensuring data quality/reliability, according to MSF protocols and maintaining confidentiality while producing the appropriate, updated documents for the medical team in order to support decision-making processes.
General Accountabilities
- Perform data entry of all epidemiological information into select databases program and creating appropriate reports, providing data for project development purposes.
- Ensure that all data entered has been authorized and that appropriate documentation has been received (patient records, treatment monitoring, etc.). Ensuring that all data entry processes occur in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure all data collected and entered to databases is consistently accurate and complete. Being responsible for ensuring that quality control queries of the database are followed up, ensuring identification of data entry errors and corrections. Immediately reporting to the supervisor, any anomalies in the database.
- File documents according to MSF standards.
- Communicate regularly with the HCW’s, assisting in the (re)training when necessary, on proper registration of patients, proper filling of the various forms, clarifying queries, obtaining missing information and correcting errors, ensuring they have ongoing sufficient supplies of necessary hardcopy data collection forms.
- Assist in the compilation and preparation of regular reports and providing detailed information to medical and laboratory teams (weekly, monthly, according to patient treatment requirements).
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Ensure updating the DHIS2 with cover sheets from respective departments, creating tables for MSF reports.
- Conduct trainings for staff and medical departments who are involved in data collection when the need arise.
- Carry-out data collection for Nutrition program (ITFC / ATFC) – Primary Health Care (PHCs / TPHC / ICCM), perform data entry, processing and analysis and report to data supervisor.
- Ensure timely and accurate data collection. Do data quality checks.
- Assist in the compilation and preparation of regular reports and providing detailed information to medical and laboratory teams (weekly, monthly, according to patient treatment requirements).
- Set up data collection tablets for use during survey, help with training the survey team, keep in touch with data collectors to make sure there are no technical issues, facilitate hand over of tablets from the project to the survey team and retrieval after use.
- Assist with other research related ad hoc activities.
- Other duties assigned by the Data Supervisor/Activity Managers/MTL.
REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS)

- Education: Essential, higher education with proven computer literacy, degree in Information and Technology (IT) or mathematics field, desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 1-year work experience in data entry/analysis.
- Languages: Mission language and local language essential. Experience with MSF desirable.
- Knowledge: Mission language and local language essential.
- Competencies: Results and Quality Orientation, Teamwork and cooperation, Flexibility, Commitment to MSF principles and Stress Management.
