Job Summary
We are actively seeking an experienced, dynamic, and results-oriented communications specialist to lead the organization’s knowledge management and public advocacy efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, packaging, and strategically disseminating content across various channels, ensuring our project insights drive national-level policy and scale-up planning. This role demands both creativity in production and technical rigor in research translation.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
The Senior Officer, Communications will be expected to deliver excellence across several core areas:
1. Content Development and Production
- Creative Product Generation: Oversee and execute the creation of high-impact communication products, including explanatory videos, dynamic infographics, detailed fact sheets, and compelling human-interest stories.
- Evidence Translation: Transform complex technical evidence, research findings, and policy recommendations into clear, concise, and persuasive reports, advocacy briefs, and knowledge products for diverse stakeholder audiences (donors, government, media).
- Capacity Support: Collaborate with technical teams to conceptualize and package user-friendly training resources, operational manuals, and job aids, adapting them into multimedia formats for diverse learning styles.
- Material Adaptation: Ensure the successful adaptation and iterative review of project materials into multiple dissemination formats (print, visual, audio), working closely with pilot sites and beneficiaries for relevance.
2. Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach
- Media Relations: Take the lead in coordinating all media outreach and engagement activities, including drafting press releases, developing content for radio spots and newspaper features, and crafting community sensitization campaigns.
- Digital Management: Manage and curate the organization’s digital communication platforms and channels, ensuring consistent messaging and high visibility for project activities and achievements.
- Event Coordination: Plan, organize, and execute high-level dissemination events, policy dialogues, national conferences, and online webinars to showcase programmatic results and influence strategic dialogue.
- Partner Alignment: Support partner organizations to ensure cohesive project branding, visibility, and standardized messaging across the wider consortium.
3. Research Dissemination and Quality Assurance
- Manuscript Contribution: Provide specialized technical writing and editorial support for the development of scientific manuscripts intended for publication in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Quality Control: Deliver high-level technical editing, quality assurance, and professional formatting support to research teams to enhance the clarity and presentation of reports and documents.
- Conference Materials: Support the preparation, design, and finalization of abstracts, posters, and presentation materials for regional and international conferences.
Essential Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced qualification) in Communication, Journalism, Public Health, Knowledge Management, or a related Social Science field.
- Professional Tenure: A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive professional experience focused on communication for development, knowledge translation, or public health communication.
- Scientific Writing: Demonstrated prior experience contributing to scientific writing and the co-development of peer-reviewed journal manuscripts is highly desirable.
- Multimedia Production: Proven ability to conceptualize and produce diverse multimedia assets (e.g., video scripts, dynamic infographics, digital storytelling).
- Sector Experience: Previous experience working with government health agencies, international NGOs, or on donor-funded health and development projects is an asset.
Key Competencies
- Exceptional talent for writing, sophisticated editing, and authentic storytelling.
- Strong competency in graphic design or content creation software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Proven ability to engage effectively with high-level stakeholders, policymakers, and diverse community members.

- Familiarity with public health domains such as immunization, maternal and child health, or digital health systems is a plus.
