Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Associate, the G-2 Driver provides high-level transportation services characterized by safety, punctuality, and strict adherence to UN security protocols. Beyond the wheel, you will serve as a professional representative of the organization, managing vehicle health, supporting office administration, and demonstrating exceptional discretion and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Safety Management

• Safe Transit: Deliver secure and timely driving services for UNICEF staff, consultants, and official visitors, ensuring total compliance with Nigerian traffic laws and internal UN safety regulations.
• Protocol & Discretion: Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and confidentiality, treating all passengers and sensitive information with absolute discretion.
• Emergency Preparedness: Maintain constant communication with the operations base and remain ready to implement emergency response procedures during field missions.

Technical Maintenance & Digital Tracking

• Vehicle Readiness: Conduct daily inspections of mechanical systems, tires, and fuel levels to ensure the fleet is always “mission-ready.”
• Digital Record Keeping: Utilize modern GPS tracking and digital logs to record trip details, mileage, and fuel consumption with precision.
• Preventative Care: Schedule and oversee routine servicing, ensuring that all repairs are handled by authorized providers and documented in the vehicle history.

Operational & Administrative Support

• Office Integration: Assist with clerical tasks, document delivery, and logistics during non-driving periods to ensure smooth office operations.
• Continuous Learning: Engage in self-directed training modules regarding UN security, first aid, and advanced driving techniques to maintain peak professional standards.

What Skills & Qualifications are Needed?

• Education: Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
• Licensing: A valid, clean Nigerian driver’s license with an expert understanding of local and regional road networks.
• Experience: At least two (2) years of professional driving experience within an international NGO, Embassy, or the United Nations system. A documented history of accident-free driving is mandatory.
• Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work harmoniously with a diverse, multicultural team and a reputation for being punctual, tactful, and highly responsible.
• Technical Savvy: Proficiency in using mobile communication tools and digital trip-tracking software.
