Your Mission

As a Medical Doctor, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered, and culturally appropriate medical care to individuals and the community. You will be instrumental in improving patients’ health conditions by applying adapted and updated medical knowledge and strictly following MSF protocols.

Core Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care: Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, diagnosis, and prevention, prescribing necessary treatment according to MSF protocols.
  • Patient Management: Follow up on hospitalized/IDP patients, manage emergency cases, ensuring timely stabilization and resuscitation of critically ill patients.
  • Quality Assurance: Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment. Know and ensure all MSF medical protocols are followed, including universal precautions and infection control (IPC).
  • Team Leadership & Training: Manage the team under your direct responsibility, supervise performance, organize shifts, and ensure ongoing training for the multidisciplinary team to optimize quality of care.
  • Surgical Support: Identify patients with acute surgical conditions, prepare them for surgery, and assist/perform minor surgical interventions when required, in collaboration with the surgeon.
  • Data & Reporting: Ensure accurate and legible patient file documentation and contribute to medical data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Telemedicine: Actively use the Telemedicine service to incorporate specialist recommendations in patient management.

Requirements

Education

  • Essential: Medical Doctor Diploma.
  • Desirable: Diploma in Tropical Medicine.

Experience

  • Minimum: 2 years of experience as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be within medical training).
  • Desirable: Post-registration experience in Public Health, Obstetrics-Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Infectious Diseases, General Practice, General Medicine, or Minor Surgery.

Language

  • Essential: Mission language proficiency.
  • Desirable: Hausa language and any other local language.

Competencies

  • People Management, Commitment, Flexibility, Results-driven, and Teamwork.
  • Desirable computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet).
