In the rapidly evolving landscape of global migration, the ability to design evidence-based interventions and maintain transparent communication with partners is paramount. This role is fundamental to the sustainability of humanitarian operations in Nigeria, ensuring that new initiatives are strategically sound and that existing progress is shared accurately with the global community. By joining our team, you become a key architect in building the programs that protect the rights and dignity of displaced persons and migrants across the region.
Job Summary
The National Project Development and Reporting Officer is a strategic role focused on the “front-end” of the project lifecycle—conceptualization, proposal drafting, and resource mobilization—as well as the critical “back-end” of donor accountability. You will support the Head of Programme and Innovation by consolidating data, researching funding landscapes, and ensuring that every project proposal aligns with our global Strategic Results Framework.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design & Proposal Development
- Facilitate the creation of results-based initiatives by drafting compelling concept notes and comprehensive project proposals in collaboration with technical units.
- Conduct research on emerging migration trends and local needs to ensure project designs address current gaps and opportunities.
- Assist in the formal endorsement process, ensuring all new project documents meet both internal organizational standards and specific donor requirements.
Resource Mobilization & Donor Intelligence
- Proactively monitor calls for proposals and identify potential funding streams from bilateral and multilateral donors.
- Create and maintain detailed donor profiles and reference materials to inform the mission’s resource mobilization strategy.
- Support the development of high-impact visibility materials that showcase program successes to potential partners.
Institutional Reporting & Quality Control
- Support Project Managers in the meticulous preparation of donor reports, ensuring that all data is verified and narratives accurately reflect programmatic impact.
- Coordinate with Regional and Headquarters units to ensure reporting remains consistent with global institutional standards.
- Manage the logistical aspects of donor briefings, field visits, and high-level stakeholder meetings.
Knowledge Management & Capacity Building
- Organize and coordinate workshops and training sessions focused on institutional reporting and program development for internal staff and partners.
- Maintain a sophisticated information management system to archive correspondence, project documentation, and historical reporting data.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Academic Credentials: A Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or Development Studies; OR a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with at least two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
- Sector Experience: Previous experience working with international organizations, UN agencies, or government bodies in a multicultural environment.
- Vulnerable Populations: Practical experience or a deep understanding of the challenges faced by refugees, IDPs, and victims of human trafficking.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of UN programming structures and international financial regulations.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional drafting skills with the ability to produce concise, persuasive, and accurate professional documents.
- Operational Readiness: High level of computer literacy and the ability to work effectively under pressure with a strong drive for results.
Why This Position Matters
This position is the bridge between a humanitarian need and the resources required to address it. Without the specialized skills of a Project Development and Reporting Officer, life-saving programs cannot be funded or sustained. You are responsible for ensuring that the organization’s promises to donors are kept and that new opportunities to serve migrants are never missed.
Benefits of Applying
- Strategic Influence: Shape the future of migration programming in Nigeria through innovative project design.
- Professional Prestige: Work for the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration.
- Competitive Package: Enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package consistent with international NGO standards.

Tips for Applicants
- Focus on the “Why”: When describing your previous work, don’t just list tasks; explain how your reporting or proposal writing led to a successful funding round or improved project outcomes.
- Precision Matters: Ensure your application is free of errors. For a reporting officer, an error-free CV is the best proof of your “accuracy under constraint.”
- Mention “Results-Based Management”: Familiarity with RBM and Strategic Results Frameworks is highly valued for this specific role.
