As an MS Ladies (MSL) Supervisor, you will support clinical excellence, sustainable service delivery, and strong community engagement across Zamfara State. Job Summary

The MS Ladies Supervisor provides clinical oversight, business support, and stakeholder coordination for a network of MSI-trained private providers (MS Ladies). The role ensures high standards of clinical quality, accurate data reporting, effective demand creation, and sustainable provider business practices. The successful candidate will contribute to improved access to family planning and reproductive health services while strengthening provider ownership and long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Quality and Supportive Supervision

  • Provide regular supportive supervision, coaching, and mentoring to assigned providers in line with MSI clinical governance and quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure providers maintain required clinical competencies in counselling, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and service delivery.
  • Monitor compliance of service delivery points (SDPs) with MSI clinical and safety frameworks.
  • Identify, document, and report clinical incidents promptly, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and lessons shared.
  • Ensure availability and correct use of infection prevention materials and clinical guidelines at all SDPs.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Ensure all supervised providers maintain minimum competency levels throughout the year.
  • Conduct bi-monthly supportive supervision visits based on provider needs and performance.
  • Maintain accurate training, supervision, and competency records and use these to inform training needs assessments.
  • Support planning and delivery of clinical trainings to maximize learning outcomes and efficiency.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned from MSL operations in the state.

Supply Chain and Business Management Support

  • Monitor commodity availability and ensure zero stock-outs of contraceptives and consumables among assigned providers.
  • Ensure expired commodities are not present at service delivery points.
  • Support providers to strengthen bookkeeping, basic accounting, and cash-flow management practices.
  • Build provider capacity in business planning, risk assessment, and sustainable service expansion.
  • Promote understanding of client profiles, willingness to pay, and local health market dynamics.

Stakeholder Engagement, Advocacy, and Demand Creation

  • Serve as MSI Reproductive Choices’ focal person at state level for MSL-related activities, representing the organization at relevant forums when required.
  • Support providers to build and maintain strong relationships with communities, public health institutions, and partners.
  • Strengthen referral systems by linking service delivery points with interpersonal communication agents and community mobilization efforts.
  • Support identification and implementation of locally appropriate demand-generation strategies aligned with MSI’s national approach.

Data Reporting and Performance Management

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting of service data into ORION or other approved platforms by monthly deadlines.
  • Validate provider data for accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Ensure proper archiving of service data and reporting tools for audit and review purposes.
  • Support providers to use data collection tools correctly and consistently.
  • Conduct routine facility-level performance reviews, including reporting rate and service trend analysis.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong supervisory, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent understanding of clinical quality assurance and governance in reproductive health services.
  • Good analytical and data validation skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple providers across dispersed locations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to field locations.
  • Proficiency in computer use and standard office software.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse, Midwife, or related medical science qualification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar supervisory or programmatic role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), particularly implant insertion and removal.
  • Experience delivering competency-based training and certification for nurses, midwives, or CHEWs.
  • Background working with national or international NGOs, preferably on donor-funded reproductive health programs.
  • Experience managing healthcare providers is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with cultural, social, and religious contexts across Nigeria, particularly northern states.
  • Knowledge of the geography of intervention areas is desirable.
