Wadata Relief Care Initiative (WRCI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and humanitarian and Developmental organization that strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls and young people in Nigeria by promoting equitable governance and human rights. Established in 2018. WRCI started operations in 2019 and registered as a nonprofit making organization with Corporate Affairs Commission in 2023. In July 2009 the Boko haram insurgence began in the Northeast, and in 2011 the bandit Conflict in the Northwest escalated, the Federal Government announced interventions that affected the lives of the general population. To fight the insurgence/banditry to reduce its impact on the population, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Nigeria collaborated to fight the insurgence’s menace. In 2018, WRCI launched activities to provide succour to people affected by the conflict and violence.

Wadata Relief Care Initiative (WRCI) is a non-profit organization in Nigeria dedicated to creating a just world where children’s rights and equality for girls and young persons are realized. With a strong commitment to mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS), WRCI focuses on a range of thematic areas, including health and nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), education, child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), peacebuilding, prevention, countering violent extremism, and climate change. By addressing the root causes of poverty in Nigeria, WRCI strives to build sustainable communities where every child has access to quality education, safe drinking water, and adequate health facilities.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: MEAL Officer

Location: Bakori LGA, Katsina
Employment Type: Contract

About the Project

  • This project,“Strengthening Community Resilience against Extremism and Violent Extremism through Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Women and Youth Associated with Violent Extremism,”will be implemented in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.
  • It aims to address the multifaceted challenges posed by armed groups, including bandits and the Lakurawa insurgents, which have severely impacted local communities through violence, displacement, and disruption of livelihoods.
  • The initiative focuses on rehabilitating and reintegrating women and youth affected by or associated with violent extremism, while simultaneously strengthening the resilience of the broader community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive MEAL framework aligned with project objectives and donor requirements.
  • Design data collection tools and methodologies to effectively monitor project activities, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate baseline, midline, and endline assessments and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on qualitative and quantitative data to measure project impact and inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate learning and knowledge-sharing sessions with project teams and stakeholders to improve project implementation.
  • Ensure accountability mechanisms are in place, including beneficiary feedback and complaints systems.
  • Prepare timely and accurate MEAL reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donors.
  • Train project staff and partners on MEAL processes and best practices.
  • Support risk management by identifying potential challenges and recommending corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in MEAL roles, preferably in conflict-affected or fragile contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of MEAL frameworks, data collection methods, and analysis tools.
  • Experience working with security and community resilience projects is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in using data management software and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages (Hausa) is a plus.
