About the Project
Société de Développement International (SDI), a Canada-headquartered research and development firm, is seeking a Nutrition and Community Development Specialist to support the implementation of a development project in Niger.
The programme focuses on improving nutrition, strengthening community capacity, supporting women and youth, and increasing the consumption of nutritious local agricultural products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop training modules on nutrition-sensitive agriculture and essential nutrition practices.
- Train 40 community relays and 6 municipal health workers.
- Support the establishment of 15 Community Nutrition Monitoring and Vigilance Groups (CNMVGs).
- Promote behaviour-change communication on nutrition.
- Coordinate with health services and local authorities.
- Support community-based nutrition activities and capacity building.
- Contribute to Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Knowledge Management activities.
- Support the wider programme’s objective of improving the diet and nutrition of approximately 24,500 people.
Project Focus
The wider programme aims to:
- Strengthen climate-resilient cowpea, peanut and market-gardening production.
- Strengthen 50 producer organizations, particularly those led by women and youth.
- Improve access to nutritious local products.
- Strengthen institutional coordination and local ownership of food and nutrition initiatives.
- Support economic inclusion and financial opportunities for women and youth.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BAC+4 or BAC+5) in a relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the relevant area of expertise.
- Experience relevant to nutrition, community development, training or related programme activities.
- Ability to develop and deliver training and work with community-level actors.
- Ability to coordinate with health services, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Experience contributing to Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Knowledge Management.
