Research Assistant at Malaria Consortium

Job Title: Research Assistant
Locations: Kaduna, Oyo and Sokoto
Employment Type: Contract

Malaria Consortium is recruiting Research Assistants to support the DISBURMA Study, a multi-centre study examining severe malaria among children and adolescents aged 0–20 years using hospital records from 2021 to 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Identify severe malaria cases from hospital registers and medical records.
  • Retrieve and review patient records with Medical Records Officers.
  • Extract demographic, clinical, laboratory, treatment and outcome data.
  • Enter collected information into the SurveyCTO electronic database.
  • Review paediatric and emergency department records, laboratory registers, referral and discharge forms.
  • Ensure collected data is accurate, complete and confidential.
  • Respond to data queries from the research team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in a health-related course.
  • Bachelor’s degree or HND with relevant experience is an advantage.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife or qualification in another health-related field.
  • Experience in inpatient care, preferably in a paediatric or medical ward.
  • Currently working or volunteering in the paediatric or medical ward of the project hospital.
  • Experience using electronic platforms for data collection and reporting.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Training in health research ethics is an advantage.

Available Locations

Kaduna: Kaduna South (Makera) and Kubau (Pambeguwa)

Oyo: Ibadan South West (Challenge) and Irepo (Iba 1)

Sokoto: Kware (Kware) and Sokoto South (Sarkin Adar)
