POSITION OVERVIEW

Jhpiego is seeking a detail-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant to join our data management team in Abuja. This temporary position is designed to strengthen our evidence-based decision-making by supporting routine data management and reporting activities across multiple public health projects. Working under the guidance of the Senior Data Analytics Officer, you will focus on high-accuracy data entry, data cleaning, and validation within Jhpiego’s DHIS2 instance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Data Entry & Systems Management

  • DHIS2 Support: Enter training and meeting data into Jhpiego’s DHIS2 instance with high precision.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist in resolving basic DHIS2 data-related issues and system queries.
  • Integrity: Support efforts to maintain data consistency and integrity across all project databases.

2. Data Quality & Analysis

  • Validation: Carry out data validation and triangulation of program data to ensure accuracy.
  • Cleaning: Conduct routine data cleaning, profiling, and quality checks/reviews on DHIS2.
  • Analytics: Generate reporting rate analysis and support data visualization efforts for project updates.

3. Reporting & Monitoring

  • Timeliness: Ensure the timely reporting of data across all supported projects.
  • Reviews: Support data review meetings and contribute insights to strengthen program monitoring and strategic decision-making.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS

Success Blueprint: M&E Assistant (Jhpiego Abuja)

As a “Temp Hire” position, Jhpiego is looking for a candidate who can “hit the ground running.” They need someone who is already comfortable with the technical tools and requires minimal oversight for routine tasks.

1. Show, Don’t Just Tell: DHIS2 & Excel

The primary duty is data entry into DHIS2 and managing Excel spreadsheets.

  • The Strategy: On your CV, be specific about your proficiency. Don’t just list “Excel.” List “VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Data Cleaning Macros.” For DHIS2, mention if you have experience with “Data Elements,” “Indicators,” or “Event Reports.”
  • Pro-Tip: Jhpiego values Data Triangulation (comparing two data sources to find truth). Describe a time you caught a data error by comparing a physical attendance sheet with a digital report.

2. Focus on “Data Quality” (DQA)

Reporting is only useful if the data is accurate.

  • Success Factor: Highlight your knowledge of DQA (Data Quality Assurance). Mention your experience in data profiling—checking for missing values, outliers, or duplicate entries in a dataset.
  • Action: Mention that you are “meticulous” and “detail-oriented.” In an M&E role, a single typo can skew a national project’s results.

3. Understanding the “Training & Meeting” Data

This role specifically focuses on entering “training and meeting data.”

  • The Context: Public health projects involve many workshops. Tracking who was trained and what meetings occurred is vital for donor compliance.
  • Action: If you have managed attendance registers or training databases before, make this a key bullet point in your “Work Experience” section.

4. The “Temp Hire” Mindset

Temporary roles are often used to evaluate talent for future permanent positions.

  • The Goal: Show that you are reliable and meet deadlines.
  • Soft Skills: Emphasize your ability to work under the supervision of a Senior Data Analytics Officer and your readiness to perform “other duties as assigned.”

5. Final Application Checklist

  • [ ] Technical Software: Are Excel and DHIS2 listed prominently?
  • [ ] Education: Do you have the BSc or HND in a relevant field?
  • [ ] Location: Confirm you are based in or can commute to Abuja for this role.
  • [ ] Rolling Basis: Temp roles fill extremely fast because the need is immediate. Apply today.

You are the custodian of the data that drives Jhpiego’s success. Apply with precision.
