The Role: Digital Communications & Community Engagement Lead
Location: Nigeria (Remote) Employment Type: Full-time
This is a critical, outcome-based, and remote leadership role. The Digital Communications & Community Engagement Lead will be responsible for defining and executing GWEF’s comprehensive digital strategy, managing our public narrative, and ensuring high-quality communications that drive engagement and secure visibility for our life-changing field programs.
Core Responsibilities (What You Will Drive)
The Lead will manage brand presence, content creation, and stakeholder interaction across all digital channels:
1. Digital Storytelling and Social Media Management
- Narrative Design: Manage GWEF’s public-facing social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), developing a compelling and consistent voice aligned with our mission.
- Content Creation: Lead the development, scheduling, and distribution of high-quality multimedia content (text, graphics, short videos) focused on impact stories, program updates, and organizational advocacy.
- Crisis Communications: Ensure proactive and reactive communication protocols are in place to manage organizational reputation and mitigate digital risks.
2. Community Engagement and Advocacy
- Engagement Strategy: Drive vibrant, two-way community engagement across digital platforms, transforming followers into active advocates and partners.
- Mobilization: Use digital channels to support resource mobilization and advocacy campaigns related to women’s rights, digital inclusion, and economic empowerment.
- Audience Building: Strategically grow GWEF’s digital audience base among donors, potential partners, and local beneficiaries.
3. Content Oversight for Field Programs
- Program Content Strategy: Oversee all external-facing content related to GWEF’s core field programs, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Rural AI Initiatives (RurAI), and Safe Girls programs.
- Field Liaison: Work closely with the Programme Managers and field teams to document best practices, collect success stories, and ensure the impact is communicated accurately and compellingly to external audiences.
4. Brand Presence and Digital Visibility
- Brand Stewardship: Strengthen and maintain GWEF’s brand presence, visual identity, and digital visibility across all platforms, including website content management.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on key digital metrics (reach, engagement, conversion) to inform communications strategy and demonstrate value to stakeholders and funders.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a proactive, creative, and strategically minded individual with a passion for development and digital media excellence.
Requirements
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience (3+ years desirable) in managing digital communications, social media, and content strategy for a non-profit, development, or humanitarian organization.
- Proven expertise in developing compelling narratives and leveraging visual media (photography/videography skills are a strong plus).
- Deep understanding of digital marketing trends, SEO principles, and social media analytics tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in local Nigerian languages is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
