Wadata Relief Care Initiative (WRCI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and humanitarian and Developmental organization that strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls and young people in Nigeria by promoting equitable governance and human rights. Established in 2018. WRCI started operations in 2019 and registered as a nonprofit making organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2023.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Bakori LGA, Katsina
Employment Type: Contract

About the Project

  • This project,“Strengthening Community Resilience against Extremism and Violent Extremism through Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Women and Youth Associated with Violent Extremism,”will be implemented in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.
  • It aims to address the multifaceted challenges posed by armed groups, including bandits and the Lakurawa insurgents, which have severely impacted local communities through violence, displacement, and disruption of livelihoods.
  • The initiative focuses on rehabilitating and reintegrating women and youth affected by or associated with violent extremism, while simultaneously strengthening the resilience of the broader community. A key component of the intervention is to provide mental health and psychosocial support to affected individuals and communities to enhance their resilience and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all financial transactions of the project, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with organizational and donor policies.
  • Prepare and maintain financial records, including budgets, expense reports, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor project expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and timely processing of payments.
  • Coordinate with project staff and partners on financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management and donors.
  • Support the annual auditing process and implement audit recommendations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard project funds and assets.
  • Assist with procurement processes in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Provide financial guidance and training to project staff as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the development or humanitarian sector.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, donor financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience working in Nigeria or similar contexts is an advantage.
