Role Overview

The Finance Assistant plays a key role in supporting the finance function across MSI Nigeria’s regional offices and social marketing operations. The role supports accurate financial reporting, effective inventory management, and compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills, integrity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced NGO environment.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting Support

  • Follow up on staff advances and ensure timely retirements.
  • Process and manage advances for regional team members.
  • Prepare and/or verify payment schedules and travel claims for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support withholding tax (WHT) and statutory remittances on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct first-level review of third-party, hotel, and vendor payments for accuracy and compliance.

Inventory & Store Management

  • Receive inventory into store and update BIN cards.
  • Issue stock from the store to team members as required.

Cross-functional Support

  • Provide additional finance support to the commercial team when required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or finance management.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • First Degree in Accounting or Banking and Finance.
  • Student Member of ICAN is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years post-NYSC experience in a finance-related role.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Sound understanding of general company and commercial law.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong initiative, professionalism, and results-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, senior staff, and external partners.
