3. Job Summary and Core Responsibilities
The Driver’s role is to support the program by providing safe and reliable transportation for AHSF staff, visitors, equipment, and materials. The role also involves critical documentation and vehicle maintenance duties.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain the vehicle log and fuel consumption documentation.
- Keep the Vehicle Documents Folder up-to-date.
- Support the Fleet Assistant with the Vehicle Usage report (mileage, trip use, fuel).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and valid permits at all times.
- Vehicle Control & Safety
- Ensure all vehicle journeys are authorized and recorded in the logbook (start and completion).
- Adhere to AHSF’s approved speed limits.
- Ensure the driver and all passengers wear safety belts.
- Immediately report all accidents to the line manager and police, and fill out the Accident report.
- Ensure keys and documents are kept secure when the vehicle is not in use.
- Maintenance & Checks
- Perform daily vehicle checks (morning and after use).
- Verify the presence and functioning order of all items on the Vehicle Check List and the Inventory.
- Report all vehicle defects and damages to the line manager and supervise necessary maintenance/repairs.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean (inside and outside) and tidy at all times.
- Schedule timely and regular preventive service of generators (Logistics duty).
- Logistics Support
- Ensure proper fuel storage and management at base.
- Submit monthly logistics and fuel consumption reports.
- Support the P/L Officer in identifying and contracting premises (office, guesthouses, warehouses).
- Contribute to providing appropriate working/living conditions (power supply, water, stationery).
4. Requirements and Qualifications

| Education | Qualified Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE). |
| Experience | 2 years working experience as a driver with reputable organizations (INGOs, NGOs, Corporate, Government). |
| Skills | Excellent verbal communication and listening skills. |
| Languages | Able to communicate in English, Hausa, and other Nigerian languages. |
| Licenses | Possession of a valid driving license (Mandatory). |
| Desirable | Experience as a mechanic or auto-electrician is highly desirable. |
| IT Skills | Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint at a basic level). |
| Other | Experience working in a relatively insecure location. |
