Main Objective
The main objective of this position is to provide counseling and/or education sessions for patients, following MSF medical and mental health protocols and procedures, to improve their psychosocial well-being.
Key Accountabilities
The Counselor Educator will be responsible for:

Service Provision:
-
Promote the availability of counseling services.
-
Conduct individual or group counseling and basic psycho-educational sessions for patients and families to alleviate psychosocial difficulties.

Specialized Support:
-
Provide psycho-stimulation, support group sessions, and one-on-one emotional support counseling to caregivers, malnourished children, survivors of violence (SV/IPV), and other vulnerable groups.

Patient Advocacy & Referral:
-
Ensure patients’ rights, needs, and wishes are prioritized, respecting dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and non-discrimination.

Refer patients to specialists or institutions for further assistance when necessary.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the medical team, Health Promotion (HP) team, and other actors on community awareness regarding SV/IPV, malnutrition, and the importance of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain regular reports on activities, assessments, and follow-ups.

Keep files and statistics of daily activities while maintaining strict confidentiality of patients’ data and MSF documents.

Professional Development:
-
Participate actively in trainings, supervision, and intervision sessions.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
-
Degree or diploma in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields.
Experience:
-
Minimum 1-year experience is essential; NGO experience is desirable.
Languages:
-
Local language essential; mission language desirable.
Knowledge & Skills:
-
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet).
Competencies:
-
Results-oriented, teamwork, flexibility, commitment to MSF principles, service-oriented.
