Consortium Coordinator

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria

Position Type: Full-Time

Application Deadline: January 16, 2026

Organization: Action Against Hunger (ACF)

The Importance of This Role

In the complex humanitarian landscape of Borno State, coordination is the difference between a fragmented response and a life-saving intervention. As the Consortium Coordinator for the ENRICH project, you will lead a strategic partnership of diverse organizations working together to build resilience and food security. Your leadership ensures that aid is not only delivered but is harmonized, accountable, and deeply integrated into the communities we serve, making a lasting impact in one of the world’s most challenging operational environments.

Job Summary

The Consortium Coordinator is responsible for the overall strategic direction, governance, and operational success of the ENRICH project. You will act as the central link between international partners, local authorities, and donors, ensuring that all project components are implemented with technical excellence and financial integrity. By fostering a culture of mutual learning and strict accountability, you will turn a multi-partner initiative into a unified force for sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Establish and maintain a robust governance framework that ensures all consortium members have an equitable voice while remaining aligned with the project’s global vision.
  • Facilitate Senior Steering Committee meetings and operational workshops to harmonize implementation methodologies across different organizations.
  • Lead the development of overarching program strategies, ensuring that all indicators and results are met through a cohesive, integrated approach.

Operational Coordination & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the complete project lifecycle, from planning and activity tracking to phase-out and sustainability strategies.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and ACF’s internal Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) protocols.
  • Conduct regular field missions to Borno’s intervention sites to monitor progress, identify implementation bottlenecks, and validate technical compliance.

Financial Oversight & Compliance

  • Monitor budget utilization across all partners, proactively addressing potential overspends or underspends to ensure maximum resource efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance Heads to manage sub-awards and ensure strict adherence to EU FPI rules and regulations.
  • Validate all internal and donor-facing reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the project’s fiscal and narrative achievements.

Partnership & Capacity Building

  • Support local implementing partners through rigorous selection processes, induction briefings, and continuous technical assistance.
  • Design and implement capacity-building plans that empower local staff and promote gender mainstreaming in recruitment and operations.
  • Foster a “safe learning environment” where partners can share challenges and innovate solutions collectively.

Advocacy, Representation & External Relations

  • Serve as the primary representative of the Consortium before the EU, national/state ministries, and traditional authorities.
  • Lead the development of a project-wide advocacy and communication strategy, capturing success stories that highlight the project’s impact.
  • Maintain a comprehensive map of stakeholders in the region to ensure complementarity with other humanitarian actors and avoid duplication of efforts.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • Advanced Education: A Master’s degree or higher in Project Management, International Development, Political Science, or Humanitarian Studies.
  • Relevant Experience: A minimum of 5 years of senior-level experience coordinating large-scale humanitarian or peacebuilding programs, specifically in insecure or complex environments.
  • Consortium Mastery: Proven track record of managing multi-partner grants and supervising diverse technical teams.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of donor guidelines, with specialized expertise in EU compliance and reporting procedures.
  • Contextual Expertise: Previous experience operating in Borno State or similar high-intensity humanitarian contexts is highly preferred.
  • Language: Native or professional fluency in English with exceptional presentation and negotiation skills.

Why This Position is Vital

The ENRICH project is more than a set of activities; it is a commitment to the people of Borno. As the Coordinator, you are the architect of this commitment. By ensuring that diverse NGOs work as one, you prevent the waste of resources and ensure that the project’s multi-sectoral approach—covering food security, water, and peacebuilding—actually reaches the most vulnerable households in a dignified and timely manner.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Salary: Competitive and based on ACF’s international humanitarian scales.
  • Environment: A professional, supportive, and mission-driven team dedicated to ending world hunger.
  • Impact: High-visibility leadership role with the ability to influence humanitarian policy and practice in Nigeria.
