About Center for Child Care and Human Development (C3HD)

C3HD is a Child-Centered and Women-Focused (CCWF) non-governmental, non-tribal, non-religious, and non-profit organization established in 2017. Our mission is to transform the lives of women and children on the edges of society, helping them regain and pursue their dreams for sustainable development.

For over 5 years, operating in Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, and Kano States, C3HD acts as an agent for change. We respond to the needs of the most vulnerable communities, especially women, children, people with disabilities, and those affected by conflict and insurgency. Our work maximizes contributions to Healthcare and Wellbeing, Protection, Peace Building, and Economic Recovery/Livelihood. We employ the “protective communities’ approach” by mainstreaming safeguarding and protection across all our activities.

The Opportunity: CHPs Mobilizers

We are seeking five energetic and dedicated Community Health Promoters (CHPs) Mobilizers to significantly enhance community engagement and service uptake in Nguru, Yobe State. This vital role involves actively mobilizing community members, promoting healthy behaviors, and ensuring seamless linkage to C3HD’s health and protection services.

Key Responsibilities

The CHPs Mobilizer is responsible for driving community outreach, health education, and ensuring program accountability.

Community Engagement and Education:

  • Conduct regular community sensitization, health education, and awareness sessions on key health topics (e.g., HIV, malaria, maternal health, nutrition, WASH).
  • Mobilize community members to access facility-based services, outreach programs, and referral pathways.
  • Facilitate group meetings, Focused Group Discussions (FGDs), and household visits to disseminate health information and address misconceptions.

Service Linkage and Support:

  • Support the identification of vulnerable individuals needing targeted support.
  • Refer clients from the community to the nearest health facility and provide follow-up support.
  • Assist facility staff in organizing outreach activities, screening campaigns, and follow-up visits.
  • Support emergency response actions when needed.

Accountability and Reporting:

  • Raise community awareness on Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) and ensure they understand available reporting channels.
  • Promote PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) messaging and ensure beneficiaries know safe and confidential reporting options.
  • Conduct community-level ** data collection** (attendance sheets, referral forms, activity logs).
  • Report daily/weekly field activities, challenges, and emerging community needs to supervisors.

Collaboration and Ethics:

  • Collaborate with community leaders, women/youth groups, facility staff, and local organizations.
  • Represent the organization positively during all community engagements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries’ dignity, immediately reporting any safeguarding or SEA concerns through approved channels.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum of National Diploma, NCE or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with relevant experience.
  • Essential: Knowledge of local context, language, and culture is essential.
  • Advantage: Certificate in Community Health, Public Health, Social Sciences, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Desirable Training: Health Promotion, PSEA, Safeguarding, GBV, First Aid, or Community Engagement.

Experience

  • At least 1–2 years’ experience working with communities in health, protection, WASH, or humanitarian programs.
  • Proven experience in community mobilization, risk communication, awareness creation, or outreach activities.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including women, youth, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
  • Prior work with NGOs, CBOs, or community structures is an added advantage.
