RECRUITMENT NOTICE The French Section of Médecins Sans Frontières is recruiting for its project in Katsina.

Position: COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR

Context Médicins Sans Frontières is a private, non-for-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in distress, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. MSF has been active in Katsina since February 2021 after carrying an exploratory mission that ended up with an opening of the project. Currently, MSF is running two ITFCs (Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre) in Katsina in the Kofar Sauri PHCC and ATFCs (Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Centre) including three in Jibia LGA (Magama, Dandara, Himu) and one in Katsina City (Gafia Dadara, Riko) and one in Madini and one in Katsina City (Kofar Marusa).

MAIN PURPOSE

To promote public and private health education sessions to the population regarding MSF principles and values in order to promote health information through health messages and hygiene conditions as well as provide information about MSF activities in order to facilitate access to healthcare.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide health and related health education sessions, messages and topics addressed to different populations regarding types of diseases and prevention.
  • Ensure all the patients and caretakers are well informed, according to protocols, about health-related issues and services provided.
  • Monitor health situation and living conditions of the population by conducting nutritional screening, collecting information related to food security, checking vaccination status of children, actively looking for any defaulters in programs that require follow-up, collecting information on number of people arriving or leaving the community, births and deaths in the community etc.
  • Identify people with medical problems, contact the medical team and report for immediate transfer if needed. He/she must inform to the line manager about any problems encountered (population, equipment, material…).
  • Report to line manager of all results of screening and analysis on a regular basis.
  • Conduct Daily Health Education sessions within the facility.
  • Collect, compile, and store data weekly in the data collection tool for action by the direct supervisor/manager.
  • Discuss new study, feedback, challenges, recommendations and submit to the line manager/supervision for action and decision making.
  • Assess the IEC needs in the facility and share with the Supervisor/Line Manager for action.
  • Provide the necessary patient support within the health facility, including information on the services offered for the beneficiaries, the use of BLUTE boxes, benefits in cases of admission.
  • Demonstrates the use of BLUTE boxes to the targeted beneficiary to achieve the desired results.
  • Perform any other responsibilities delegated by the Line Manager/Supervisor.
  • Collect information of absentees and defaulters’ patients and share with community volunteers.
  • Lead in terms of tracing of absentees and defaulters’ patients with the community volunteers.
  • Collect relevant information of absentees and defaulters, including the origin and proper classification (absentee and defaulters) and share with supervisor for reporting.
  • Provide the smooth identification of all CVs and Partner(Family) referrals within the ATFC for proper screening, patients’ support and reporting.

REQUIREMENTS Education Diploma in public health, community health, health education and any other related field. Experience None is required Languages Hausa and English languages essential. Minor languages is desirable Competencies

CONTRACT: Fixed Term 208 working hours per month.

REMUNERATION

According to MSF salary scale plus 13th month allowance equivalent to 1 month of gross salary.
