Job Summary

The Community Case Worker is an essential field-based role focused on the front-end of humanitarian protection. You will be responsible for identifying high-risk individuals, facilitating critical referrals, and providing direct support through the case management process. Working at the grassroots level, you will ensure that aid is not only delivered but is also timely, compassionate, and tailored to the specific needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Advocacy

  • Sensitization: Lead and support community awareness campaigns and training sessions on protection rights, safety, and available humanitarian resources.
  • Proactive Identification: Engage directly with households and local structures to identify vulnerable individuals and families who require urgent intervention.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain trust with community leaders and local committees to strengthen referral pathways and protection networks.

Case Management & Monitoring

  • Active Support: Assist the Case Management Officer in the intake, documentation, and regular monitoring of individual cases.
  • Effective Referrals: Ensure that vulnerable individuals are connected to medical, legal, or social services promptly and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Field Visitation: Conduct regular home visits and follow-up assessments to evaluate progress while upholding the highest standards of survivor-centered care.

Documentation & Coordination

  • Data Integrity: Maintain accurate, organized, and secure records of all field activities and case interactions, ensuring strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in community-level coordination meetings to advocate for the needs of the population and share field insights.
  • Reporting: Prepare concise and timely activity reports that document field challenges, successes, and emerging protection trends.

Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE); a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 1–2 years of practical experience in community-based social work, social services, or humanitarian field operations.
  • Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with the challenges facing displaced populations and vulnerable groups in Northeast Nigeria.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required; the ability to communicate fluently in the local languages of Adamawa State is highly desirable.
