Green Concern for Development (GREENCODE) is a national humanitarian and development organization with over 10 years of development interventions and humanitarian response in Nigeria. We have partnered with several INGOs and NGOs in implementing people’s centered project.
We envisage rural communities in Nigeria that are environmentally conscious, where poverty is eradicated, and social rights upheld. We work with the poor and socially excluded people, and government for the promotion of environment and human rights protection in communities that are in Nigeria, aimed at poverty reduction through education, information sharing, research, training and direct impact intervention.
Position Title: Child Protection Project Coordinator
Location: Nganzai/Maiduguri, Borno State
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose:
The Child Protection (CP) Coordinator is responsible for leading, coordinating, and strengthening child protection interventions in humanitarian or development settings. This includes providing strategic direction, ensuring quality implementation of CP activities, supporting capacity building of field teams, and representing the organization in child protection coordination platforms. The role aims to promote the safety, dignity, and well-being of children affected by conflict, displacement, or poverty.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Implementation and Technical Oversight
- Oversee planning, implementation, and monitoring of child protection activities including case management, family tracing and reunification, psychosocial support, and communitybased protection.
- Ensuring activities are aligned with international child protection standards and national guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance to field teams on child safeguarding, risk mitigation, and referral mechanisms.
- Lead assessments to identify child protection risks and needs in communities.
2. Team Leadership and Capacity Building
- Manage and mentor CP staff including officers, case workers, and community volunteers.
- Facilitate training and continuous learning opportunities for staff and partners on child protection, child rights, and psychosocial care.
- Promote a positive and supportive team environment that values accountability and childcentered approaches.
3. Coordination and Representation
- Represent the organization in inter-agency child protection working groups and coordination forums.
- Coordinate with relevant sectors (education, GBV, health, WASH, etc.) to ensure integrated programming.
- Liaise with local authorities, social welfare departments, and community leaders to strengthen child protection systems.
4. Monitoring, Reporting & Learning
- Work closely with MEAL teams to develop appropriate monitoring tools and systems for child protection programs.
- Ensure timely and quality data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with donor and organizational requirements.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future programming.
5. Child Safeguarding and Advocacy
- Ensure that child safeguarding principles are mainstreamed into all activities.
- Lead the rollout and enforcement of the organization’s Child Safeguarding Policy across all project sites.
- Support advocacy initiatives on child protection issues at local and national levels.
Qualifications & Experience:
- University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Human Rights, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in child protection programming in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of case management, psychosocial support, and child rights frameworks.
- Experience working with vulnerable children, including unaccompanied and separated children, survivors of abuse or exploitation, and children with disabilities.
- Strong project management, team leadership, and coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of local language(s) is an asset.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and child protection in emergencies.
- Ability to work in stressful environments and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Experience working with national systems and building capacity of local actors.
- Familiarity with donor reporting requirements (UNICEF, ECHO, USAID, etc.).
