Organization: Alimat Care Foundation (ACF)
Application Deadline: January 15, 2026
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-site
Guarding the Integrity of Humanitarian Resources
In the humanitarian sector, financial transparency is the foundation of trust between an organization, its donors, and the communities it serves. As a Finance Officer with Alimat Care Foundation, you are the guardian of the resources intended to transform the lives of women and girls in Northeast Nigeria. By ensuring that every Naira is accounted for and every budget is optimized, you directly enable our teams to deliver life-saving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services without interruption or error.
Job Summary
The Finance Officer is responsible for the comprehensive financial oversight of our upcoming SRHR project, ensuring rigorous accounting, proactive budgeting, and strict donor compliance. Your primary role is to maintain a transparent financial environment where project funds are utilized effectively to achieve our humanitarian objectives while adhering to international best practices.
Key Responsibilities
I. Financial Management and Accounting
- Project Accounting: Manage and reconcile all financial records related to the SRHR project, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and project-specific accounts.
- Transaction Processing: Oversee the end-to-end processing of payments, staff retirements, and vendor invoices, ensuring all documentation meets organizational standards.
- Systems Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date entries in accounting software (QuickBooks) and ensure a meticulous physical and digital filing system for all financial vouchers.
II. Budgeting, Reporting, and Compliance
- Budget Oversight: Monitor project spending against approved budgets, providing monthly variance analyses to help program managers make informed decisions.
- Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements and contribute to high-quality financial reports for international donors.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all project expenditures comply with both Alimat Care Foundation’s internal policies and the specific regulations set by the funding partner.
III. Audit Support and Capacity Building
- Audit Readiness: Act as the primary focal point during internal and external audits, ensuring all requested documentation is accessible and accurate.
- Technical Guidance: Provide ongoing financial orientation to non-finance project staff to improve the quality of retirements and financial requests from the field.
- Risk Management: Implement and monitor internal financial controls to prevent fraud, waste, and mismanagement of project resources.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Academic Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Professional Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in NGO finance or project-based accounting.
- Technical Proficiency: * Mastery of QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot tables, VLOOKUP) is a mandatory requirement.
- Solid understanding of financial controls, tax regulations, and donor compliance frameworks.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to maintain professionalism under tight reporting deadlines.
- Integrity: A proven track record of ethical financial management and accountability.
Why This Job is Important
The Finance Officer ensures the “engine” of the project keeps running. Without sound financial management, life-saving health interventions cannot be procured, and field teams cannot reach remote communities. In this role, your precision and integrity are what allow our donors to feel confident in their investment, ensuring that funding continues to flow toward the protection and empowerment of girls in Adamawa State.
