Job Summary
We are seeking a commercially-minded financial leader to spearhead the fiscal operations of our service centers and social marketing channels. You will be responsible for translating complex data into strategic insights, managing robust debt recovery systems, and ensuring that our social business model remains compliant, profitable, and mission-aligned.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Performance Analysis: Develop high-level financial breakdowns for clinical centers and social marketing operations, delivering daily reports on sales trajectories and service income.
- Monthly Management Accounts: Produce comprehensive monthly financial statements, identifying budget variances and implementing effective corrective measures.
- Cash Management: Approve bank reconciliations for commercial accounts and maintain precise oversight of cash balances to support seamless daily operations.
- Accuracy & Posting: Ensure the timely mapping of sales receipts to distributors and the accurate posting of service income within each reporting cycle.
Strategic Planning & Commercial Support
- Business Intelligence: Partner with the Commercial Director to provide data-driven recommendations that enhance market share and financial performance.
- Pricing Strategy: Advise on product pricing frameworks, manage “price waterfalls,” and evaluate the financial feasibility of promotional schemes and marketing activities.
- New Ventures: Lead the development of ROI-focused business cases for new product launches or geographical expansions.
- Efficiency Initiatives: Spearhead cost-reduction programs across all commercial channels without compromising service quality.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborative Planning: Work alongside the Grants and Programs units to develop annual business plans, rolling forecasts, and strategic financial projections.
- Internal Controls: Develop and monitor operational control procedures (AFB initiatives) to safeguard organizational assets.
- Field Supervision: Conduct supportive visits to regional offices and trade partners to verify adherence to established financial documentation and inventory standards.
- Inventory Management: Oversee spot checks and physical counts of social marketing commodities nationwide to prevent leakage and ensure supply chain integrity.
Leadership & Risk Management
- Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing commercial finance team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and accountability.
- Debt & Credit Oversight: Manage trade partner credit limits, monitor debtor aging, and lead rigorous debt recovery efforts to maintain a healthy balance sheet.
- Contract Compliance: Review commercial contracts with insurance providers and distributors to ensure all legal and financial safeguards are in place.
Professional Requirements & Skills
- Academic Background: A University Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s degree is highly desirable).
- Certifications: Active membership in a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIA).
- Industry Experience: At least 7 years of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in management accounting or business partnering within the FMCG or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and hands-on experience with computerized accounting systems; familiarity with Sun Systems or QuickBooks is a major advantage.
- Specialized Knowledge: A solid understanding of internal controls, risk mitigation, and the financial dynamics of multi-location operations.
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence senior government officials and commercial distributors.
- Soft Skills: Proven ability to manage confidential data, maintain objectivity under pressure, and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
