Job Summary
We are seeking an empathetic, responsible, and dedicated professional to fill the pivotal role of Care Support Officer. The successful candidate will be entrusted with managing the daily operational, emotional, and physical needs of our residents, ensuring a protective, nurturing, and stimulating home environment is maintained 24/7. This role is a direct and indispensable contribution to achieving positive developmental and psychosocial outcomes for children who have faced significant adversity.
Key Responsibilities
The Care Support Officer is responsible for executing individualized care plans and ensuring the holistic well-being of the children. Key duties include:
1. Daily Essential Care and Hygiene
- Provide comprehensive, dignified daily care for children of various age groups, including assistance with feeding, bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene routines.
- Administer medication and specialized care as directed by medical staff and management protocols.
2. Emotional and Psychosocial Support
- Facilitate emotional security and stability, acting as a reliable, positive adult role model and mentor.
- Actively support children in developing essential social skills, conflict resolution strategies, and healthy emotional regulation.
3. Development and Engagement
- Organize and lead structured recreational, educational, and developmental activities to promote cognitive and physical engagement.
- Assist residents with homework assignments and learning tasks to support their formal education.
4. Safety, Security, and Compliance
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, order, and safety within all residential and common areas.
- Systematically document and promptly escalate any concerns regarding a child’s health, behaviour, or overall safety to the appropriate management personnel.
5. Collaborative Teamwork
- Work seamlessly and communicate effectively with other staff, including social workers, teachers, and administrators, to implement agreed-upon care strategies.
Required Qualifications and Essential Skills

Mandatory Requirements

- Location: Current residence in or verifiable proximity to the Ikorodu, Lagos State area is essential for reliable commuting and shift coverage.
Professional Experience and Attributes
- Experience: Previous, relevant professional experience in childcare, residential support, or a comparable caregiving field (e.g., teaching assistant, health aide).
- Patience & Empathy: Exceptional level of patience, compassion, and a strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility.
- Communication: Outstanding ability to build trusting rapport with children and communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues.
- Safety Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding or willingness to undergo immediate training in basic child safety protocols and emergency first aid.
- Availability: Required flexibility to work full-time hours, including shifts that cover evenings, weekends, and designated public holidays.
