The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), established in 1960, is the nation’s leading auxiliary to public authorities in humanitarian interventions. As the Branch Training and Resource Mobilisation Officer for the Sokoto State Branch, you will hold a dual-impact role: ensuring the community is equipped with life-saving First Aid skills while securing the sustainable funding necessary to keep our mission alive. This position is for a dynamic leader who is as comfortable in a classroom as they are in a boardroom, driving both technical excellence and financial growth.
Job Summary
The Branch Training and Resource Mobilisation (TRM) Officer is responsible for the professional delivery of NRCS First Aid training and the strategic acquisition of resources for the Sokoto State Branch. Reporting to the Branch Secretary, you will identify funding opportunities, build donor networks, and ensure that our commercial first aid training meets the highest international standards. Your work ensures that the NRCS is both a technical authority in emergency care and a self-sustaining humanitarian actor.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Resource Mobilisation & Partnerships
- Funding Strategy: Collaborate with the Branch Secretary to define and implement robust project funding strategies, ensuring resource mobilization remains a top priority.
- Donor Relations: Establish and maintain a vibrant network of donors, institutions, and government departments in Sokoto State to support Branch activities.
- Prospecting: Provide timely advice on emerging funding opportunities, donor requirements, and compliance procedures.
- Performance Tracking: Document and report monthly on mobilization achievements, success rates, and challenges to the National Headquarters (NHQ) and Branch Governance.
First Aid Training & Technical Excellence
- Course Delivery: Deliver professional-standard First Aid and rescue training, ensuring all curriculum requirements and safety standards are meticulously met.
- Participant Safety: With support from the Health & Care Officer, ensure all training environments are hazard-free and that medical equipment (mannequins, AEDs, etc.) is sanitized and maintained.
- Customer Relations: Build effective relationships with corporate clients and institutional partners to ensure high satisfaction and repeat training delivery.
- Adaptive Instruction: Use inclusive assessment and delivery strategies to meet the diverse needs of training participants.
- Reporting: Submit detailed technical reports following every training session, tracking participant performance and equipment status.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: University Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a First Aid Trainer or in Resource Mobilisation.
- Technical Certification: Relevant certifications in First Aid (Instructor Level) are highly preferable.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to persuade, influence, and sustain successful strategic relationships with external donors and corporate clients.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends and funding landscapes to anticipate and develop strategic responses.
- Communication: Fluency in written and spoken English. Ability to articulate complex technical skills clearly to diverse audiences.
- Tech Literacy: High proficiency in MS Office tools for reporting and presentation.
