In Nigeria, the availability of life-saving vaccines has reached an all-time high, yet many infants remain unprotected because their families cannot afford the indirect costs of reaching a clinic. As an Assistant Field Manager with New Incentives, you are the catalyst for change. By managing a strategic conditional cash transfer program, you remove the financial barriers—such as transportation costs and lost wages—that prevent mothers from completing their children’s immunization schedules. Your work is a direct intervention against child mortality, ensuring every child in Niger State has a healthy start at life.
Organization: New Incentives (All-In-One Savings)
Location: Niger State, Nigeria (Various LGAs)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Sector: Project Management / Public Health
Job Summary
New Incentives is seeking mission-driven Assistant Field Managers to lead our expansion in Niger State. Working in close partnership with the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, you will support Field Managers in overseeing the transparent disbursement of cash incentives at public clinics. Your primary goal is to drive up immunization coverage and retention rates by providing operational leadership, supervising Field Officers, and fostering strong, trust-based relationships with healthcare staff and the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Supervision
- Field Oversight: Manage and mentor a team of Field Officers across various clinic locations, ensuring that the cash transfer program is executed with 100% accuracy and professionalism.
- Disbursement Management: Assist in the high-quality administration of cash transfers, ensuring that every transaction is documented and every eligible caregiver is served.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key liaison between the organization and public clinic staff, nurturing collaborative relationships that facilitate smooth program delivery.
Monitoring & Data Integrity
- Performance Tracking: Monitor clinic-level data to identify trends in immunization retention and coverage, proposing actionable solutions to overcome local challenges.
- Financial Stewardship: Maintain rigorous oversight of program funds, ensuring that all financial activities are handled with extreme care, transparency, and in accordance with organizational policies.
- Reporting: Synthesize field data and observations into clear, concise reports to help the organization adapt and improve based on real-world feedback.
Field Logistics
- On-Site Presence: Commit to a rigorous field schedule, spending at least four days per week at remote public clinics and various field locations across Niger State.
- Team Mobility: Coordinate with supervised staff to ensure consistent coverage at all assigned LGAs and clinics.
What Skills & Qualifications are Needed?
- Educational Foundation: Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND), preferably in Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
- Geographic Preference: We strongly prefer candidates currently residing in Niger State or those with a confirmed place to stay within the state’s LGAs.
- Health System Literacy: Prior experience navigating the Nigerian healthcare system, particularly regarding clinic documentation, infant health, and routine immunization, is highly valued.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word and comfort using smartphones, internet browsers, and modern communication tools.
- Language Mastery: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hausa (including local dialects) are essential for community engagement.
- Analytical Mindset: The ability to collect and interpret health data to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Personal Attributes: You must be detail-oriented, diligent, and possess a deep-seated passion for reducing infant mortality.
Why This Job is Important
While traditional aid often focuses only on supply, New Incentives focuses on “Demand Creation.” This role is critical because it addresses the economic realities of poverty that keep children from being vaccinated. By leading the operations on the ground, you ensure that the program remains lean, effective, and capable of saving thousands of lives through one of the most cost-effective health interventions in the world.
Benefits of Applying
- Meaningful Career Path: Join a fast-growing, innovative US-based nonprofit that is changing the landscape of health in Nigeria.
- Professional Growth: Gain significant leadership and managerial experience by supervising field teams and managing complex logistics.
- Community Connection: Work at the grassroots level to make a tangible difference in the lives of mothers and children in your own region.
- Dynamic Culture: Thrive in a young, feedback-driven organization that values transparency and results.
