As a Cleaner with Solidarités International, you will help create an environment that enables humanitarian professionals to focus fully on delivering critical assistance to vulnerable communities.
Job Summary
The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and orderliness in the offices and residential facilities of Solidarités International staff. The role also includes managing laundry services and ensuring that shared spaces remain safe, comfortable, and well stocked with essential cleaning supplies.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Hygiene
- Clean and disinfect floors, offices, furniture, cupboards, and sleeping areas on a daily basis.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms and toilets to ensure safe and hygienic conditions.
- Empty waste bins and ensure proper disposal of trash.
- Carry out periodic deep cleaning of offices, living quarters, and shared spaces.
Laundry and Linen Care
- Wash, dry, fold, and iron clothes belonging to expatriate staff.
- Maintain cleanliness of household linens, including towels and restroom materials.
Facility Support
- Ensure bathrooms are consistently stocked with toilet paper, soap, and hand towels.
- Clean kitchens and refrigerators when no cook is assigned.
- Monitor and manage cleaning materials and supplies under the supervision of the line manager.
Safety and Access Control
- Ensure that only authorized individuals have access to staff living quarters.
- Support a safe, respectful, and orderly environment for all personnel.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum of First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC).
- At least one year of experience in a similar cleaning or janitorial role, preferably with an NGO, public institution, or private organization.
Skills and Competencies
- Basic knowledge of cleaning tools, equipment, and products.
- Ability to organize tasks efficiently and manage time effectively.
- High level of honesty, reliability, and personal integrity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and under pressure.
- Functional knowledge of English.
