This role is essential to ensuring that life-saving sexual and reproductive health services can be delivered safely and without disruption. By strengthening security systems and real-time risk management, the Regional Security Advisor supports staff wellbeing and operational continuity. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding both personnel and communities across challenging contexts.
Job Summary
The Regional Security Advisor (RSA) will provide technical leadership and operational support for security management across the North East 2 and North West 3 regions. The role focuses on implementing effective security controls, monitoring risks, and advising regional teams on safety and incident response. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with organizational security policies while adapting measures to local contexts.
Key Responsibilities
Security Risk Management
- Monitor regional threat levels and conduct regular risk assessments.
- Develop, review, and implement standard operating procedures aligned with MSI Nigeria security policies.
- Prepare contingency plans and special situation reports for management review.
Safety and Asset Protection
- Ensure offices, clinics, vehicles, and equipment meet required safety and fire protection standards.
- Oversee physical security measures, including perimeter security, safe rooms, alarms, and guards.
- Monitor storage and protection of sensitive materials and assets.
Procedural and Operational Security
- Enforce access control, visitor management, and key control systems across offices.
- Implement travel security protocols, including movement tracking, authorizations, and equipment requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date evacuation, medical, and crisis response plans for all locations.
Incident Response and Reporting
- Lead or support response to security incidents, including staff briefings and debriefings.
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents, risks, and emerging threats to the Security & Risk Advisor.
- Provide on-call, real-time security advice to field and regional teams.
Coordination and External Liaison
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government security agencies and local networks.
- Share daily security updates with internal stakeholders and coordinate closely with regional teams.
- Support training and awareness sessions on security procedures for staff and visitors.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional certification in security, risk management, or a related field.
- Seven to fifteen years of relevant experience in security management or advisory roles.
- Background in the military, police, or recognized security services in Nigeria.
- Demonstrated experience operating in complex, high-risk, or conflict-affected environments.
- Proven ability to manage critical incidents and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and remain available for emergency response when required.
