Job Summary
The Country HR Officer is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of our human resources, with a specialized focus on the recruitment and management of our expanding logistics and warehouse teams. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will act as a bridge between organizational leadership and staff, ensuring that our HR practices align with Nigerian labor laws, donor requirements, and the core values of the humanitarian sector.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Talent Acquisition: Lead the end-to-end recruitment process for warehouse and logistics personnel, ensuring we attract and select candidates who embody both technical excellence and humanitarian integrity.
- Compliance & Record Management: Maintain impeccable personnel files and digital HR databases, ensuring 100% compliance with organizational policies and national labor regulations.
- Performance Excellence: Facilitate and oversee the performance appraisal cycle, providing guidance to managers to ensure fair, constructive, and impactful staff evaluations.
- Capacity Building: Identify skill gaps and coordinate specialized HR-related training programs, particularly focusing on safety, ethics, and professional development for our logistics teams.
- Staff Welfare & Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for staff grievances, disciplinary matters, and welfare initiatives, fostering a culture of transparency, fairness, and mutual respect.
- Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and rollout of HR policies that prioritize staff safeguarding, diversity, and mental well-being in challenging field environments.
Candidate Profile: Skills & Qualifications
- Academic Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related social science field.
- Sector Experience: 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong preference for individuals who have worked within the NGO or humanitarian ecosystem.
- Legal Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian Labour Laws and modern HR best practices, particularly regarding contract management and employee rights.
- Professional Ethics: An uncompromising commitment to confidentiality, impartiality, and personal integrity.
- Administrative Mastery: Exceptional organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage complex data with high attention to detail.
- Communication: Superior interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive personnel issues with diplomacy.
