Job Summary
The Guest House Cook / Housekeeper is responsible for the overall comfort and hygiene of our staff residence in Dikwa. This dual-purpose role involves professional meal preparation and comprehensive housekeeping services. We are looking for a reliable individual who takes pride in creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for our resident and visiting team members.
Core Responsibilities
- Culinary Excellence: Plan and prepare healthy, delicious daily meals based on established menus, ensuring all dietary preferences and nutritional needs are met.
- Hygiene & Sanitation: Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness across all areas, including private guest rooms, bathrooms, the kitchen, and shared living spaces.
- Laundry Management: Manage the washing, ironing, and organized storage of bed linens, towels, and other household fabrics.
- Resource Management: Monitor kitchen and cleaning supplies, providing timely reports to management to ensure the house remains fully stocked and functional.
- Facility Maintenance: Promptly identify and report any structural or maintenance issues (such as plumbing or electrical needs) to ensure the safety of the premises.
- Health & Safety: Strictly adhere to food safety protocols and household hygiene standards to prevent illness and ensure a healthy living environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Background: Minimum of a Primary or Secondary School leaving certificate (FSLC/SSCE).
- Professional Experience: Previous experience working as a cook, cleaner, or housekeeper in a professional setting, guest house, or private residence.
- Culinary Skills: Demonstrated ability to cook a variety of local Nigerian dishes and basic continental meals.
- Organizational Skills: A high standard for cleanliness and the ability to manage household chores systematically.
- Personal Attributes: Exceptional honesty, reliability, and a polite, well-organized approach to work.
- Field Readiness: Comfort and willingness to live and work in the Dikwa region of Borno State within a humanitarian context.
