In the world of humanitarian aid, medical excellence is only possible when the infrastructure behind it is flawless. As a Logistics Supervisor with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), you are the backbone of our operations, ensuring that life-saving equipment, specialized facilities, and mobile medical units are always ready for action. Your technical expertise and leadership ensure that our doctors and nurses can focus on what they do best: saving lives in the most challenging environments.
Job Summary
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for the seamless daily management of MSF technical assets, facilities, and supply chains in Akwa, Anambra. By overseeing high-standard maintenance protocols and leading a dedicated technical team, you will ensure that our medical mission operates with maximum efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure and Facility Management
- Maintain MSF buildings, medical facilities, and administrative offices in peak condition through regular inspections and rapid response maintenance.
- Direct and supervise minor structural rehabilitations, ensuring all premises meet strict safety and security regulations.
- Audit and optimize energy systems, including power grids and generators, to guarantee uninterrupted service for medical operations.
Technical Fleet and Equipment Oversight
- Manage the project vehicle fleet, implementing rigorous preventive and curative maintenance schedules to prevent operational delays.
- Monitor the consumption and performance of mechanical and electrical devices, ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational longevity.
- Serve as the technical focal point for domestic flight logistics, managing schedules and coordinating staff movement across the mission.
Team Leadership and Capacity Building
- Lead and mentor the logistics and driver teams, managing work schedules, performance evaluations, and daily task delegations.
- Design and deliver on-the-job training for staff, focusing on fleet management, stock control, and MSF’s specialized logistics tools.
- Cultivate a culture of service excellence, coaching team members on safe driving habits and standard technical checks.
Administrative and Supply Chain Control
- Oversee non-medical stock management, ensuring accurate documentation of procurement and inventory movements.
- Synthesize operational data into clear reports, identifying logistical bottlenecks and proposing proactive solutions to the management team.
Candidate Requirements & Skills Needed
- Educational Background: A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Facilities Management, or Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical).
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in logistics or facility management, with a strong preference for candidates with prior NGO or humanitarian exposure.
- Leadership Ability: Proven experience managing technical teams and overseeing infrastructure maintenance projects.
- Technical Skills: Computer literacy is essential; experience with radio equipment and telecommunications is a significant advantage.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in English; fluency in Igbo is highly desirable for local community engagement.
Why This Job is Important
Without a Logistics Supervisor, the “cold chain” for vaccines could break, vehicles could fail during emergencies, and medical facilities could become unsafe. You are the guardian of the physical environment that allows healthcare to happen. Your work directly translates into the reliability of our emergency response.
Benefits of Joining MSF
- Purpose-Driven Work: Every task you complete contributes directly to humanitarian aid delivery.
- Competitive Compensation: We offer a salary package and benefits reflective of the responsibility of the role.
- Professional Development: Gain access to specialized humanitarian logistics training and an international network of technical experts.
