In an era of unprecedented global movement, the ability to design sustainable, human-centered programs is vital to ensuring the safety and dignity of individuals on the move. This role serves as a backbone for humanitarian operations, transforming complex data and field insights into compelling narratives and fundable proposals. By joining this mission, you contribute directly to the systemic improvement of migration management and the delivery of essential services to vulnerable populations across Nigeria.
Job Summary
The Project Support Assistant (Development & Reporting) is a multifaceted role dedicated to bolstering the mission’s capacity to secure resources and maintain accountability to donors. You will act as a key technical resource in the drafting of new initiatives, the tracking of ongoing project milestones, and the creation of high-impact reports that showcase the organization’s progress. Your contribution ensures that operational excellence is matched by rigorous documentation and strategic external communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Proposal Development: Provide technical support in the conceptualization and drafting of new project proposals, ensuring they align with both regional needs and global humanitarian standards.
- Accountability & Reporting: Author comprehensive internal and external reports that accurately reflect project achievements, challenges, and financial health for various international donors.
- Documentation Management: Facilitate the end-to-end submission process for partner agreements, donor reports, and project proposals, ensuring full compliance with institutional policies.
- Project Monitoring & Knowledge Base: Actively track ongoing project activities across the mission, maintaining a centralized repository of project data and institutional knowledge.
- Administrative Oversight: Implement and maintain robust administrative monitoring tools to ensure projects stay on schedule and within regulatory frameworks.
- Event & Logistics Coordination: Deliver technical and administrative support for the planning and execution of high-level conferences, stakeholder meetings, and specialized training sessions.
- Field Support: Conduct periodic field missions across Nigeria to verify project implementation and gather qualitative data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background
- Standard Route: A University degree in International Relations, Political Science, Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, or Migration Studies, supplemented by at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience Route: Candidates with a High School Diploma and at least five (5) years of specialized experience in project support are also encouraged to apply.
Professional Experience
- Proven history working within international humanitarian frameworks, government institutions, or multi-cultural NGO environments.
- Direct experience in the lifecycle of project development, from initial design to final reporting, particularly involving diverse donor portfolios.
Essential Skills
- Technical Expertise: Advanced understanding of Project Cycle Management (PCM), including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (MEAL) principles.
- Operational Savvy: Familiarity with international financial and business procedures related to grant management.
- Digital Proficiency: Mastery of office productivity suites and specialized project/grant management software.
- Communication: Exceptional writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex field data into clear, professional English prose.
Why This Role Matters
The success of humanitarian aid relies on the bridge between field action and donor support. Without precise reporting and visionary project development, essential funding cannot be secured or maintained. In this role, you are the catalyst that ensures resources continue to flow to those who need them most, maintaining the organization’s reputation for transparency and effectiveness.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: Competitive (Based on the UN/IOM Salary Scale for General Service staff in Nigeria).
- Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance, pension contributions, and the opportunity to work within a prestigious inter-governmental framework with significant room for professional growth.
Tips for Applicants
- Tailor Your Narrative: Don’t just list tasks; explain the impact of your previous reporting or proposal drafting.
- Highlight Compliance: Emphasize your familiarity with donor regulations (e.g., UN, EU, USAID) as this is highly valued.
- Proofread Thoroughly: For a reporting-heavy role, your application is your first “work sample.” Ensure it is error-free.
