Finance Officer – Novel Alliance for Development Aid (NADA)

Job Summary

NADA is seeking a meticulous Finance Officer to lead our financial management, compliance, and auditing functions across our Borno and Yobe operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accuracy of our financial ecosystems, ensuring that all statutory obligations are met and that our fiscal reporting provides a clear, honest roadmap for organizational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Fiscal Oversight & Strategic Reporting

  • System Management: Maintain real-time accuracy of financial data within our accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Zoho, or Wave), ensuring all transactions are classified correctly.
  • Financial Intelligence: Author comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing management with variance analyses and data-driven budget forecasts.
  • Cash Flow Stewardship: Oversee treasury functions, including monthly bank reconciliations and the management of working capital to ensure uninterrupted program delivery.

Compliance, Tax & Audit

  • Statutory Excellence: Manage the end-to-end process for all legal remittances, including PAYE, VAT, Pension, and Withholding Tax, ensuring NADA remains in good standing with Nigerian regulators.
  • Audit Readiness: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, preparing all necessary documentation and ensuring our practices align with national and international accounting standards.
  • Payroll Integrity: Calculate and remit all employee-related statutory deductions (NSITF, ITF, etc.) with 100% accuracy and punctuality.

Internal Controls & Expense Management

  • Gatekeeping: Enforce strict pre-approval protocols for all organizational spending, ensuring every expenditure aligns with NADA’s authorization limits and Accounting Policy.
  • Validation: Review and verify all vendor invoices and reimbursement claims, ensuring they are backed by complete and legitimate documentation.
  • Data Security: Maintain the integrity of financial records through secure backups and strict access control management for all financial platforms.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: A University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Professional History: 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with automated accounting software (QuickBooks/Zoho).
  • Language: Full professional fluency in English (written and verbal) is essential for reporting and representation.
