In the rapidly evolving landscape of Northeast Nigeria, young leaders are the engine of sustainable community development. By joining Alimat Care Foundation as a Program Volunteer, you are stepping onto the front lines of advocacy for women’s and girls’ rights. This role is a unique opportunity to turn your passion for social justice into practical experience, helping to implement life-changing projects in a region where your contribution truly matters.

Job Summary

The Program Volunteer serves as a vital support pillar for the planning and execution of our multi-sectoral initiatives. You will work alongside experienced professionals to deliver interventions in sexual and reproductive health, education, and climate justice, gaining comprehensive “hands-on” experience in the NGO sector.

Key Responsibilities

I. Operational Support and Logistics

  • Activity Coordination: Assist the program team in organizing workshops, training sessions, and community town halls, ensuring all logistical needs are met.
  • Field Implementation: Join field missions to support the rollout of community-based interventions across various project local government areas (LGAs).
  • Administrative Assistance: Help maintain project schedules, participant attendance sheets, and other essential administrative documentation.

II. Monitoring and Documentation

  • Impact Tracking: Support the data collection process by assisting with surveys and interviews to track the progress of ongoing activities.
  • Reporting: Draft preliminary activity reports and assist in capturing the “human side” of our work through success stories and case studies.
  • Archive Management: Ensure all project photos, reports, and learning documents are organized and filed according to organizational standards.

III. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Community Liaison: Act as a bridge between the foundation and local communities, helping to build trust and foster participation among beneficiaries.
  • Partner Collaboration: Support the team in communicating with local government partners and other civil society organizations during joint activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Academic Background: A Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled) in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Education, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: * Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a mandatory requirement.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages in Adamawa is an advantage.
  • Mindset and Attitude: * A deep-seated passion for the rights and empowerment of women and girls.
    • A proactive, “can-do” attitude with a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
    • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and follow a structured work schedule.

Why This Role is Important

Volunteers are often the most direct link between an NGO and the community. By supporting daily operations, you ensure that our programs run smoothly and that no beneficiary is overlooked. Your work in documenting success stories helps us prove our impact to donors, securing the future of the interventions that keep girls in school and protected from harm.
