Job Summary

We are seeking a visionary and meticulous financial leader to oversee our national and regional accounting operations, business budgeting, and commercial financial management. As the Head of Finance & Accounts, you will act as a bridge between financial excellence and programmatic success, ensuring that our social business model remains sustainable, transparent, and high-impact. You will lead a high-performing team to maintain data integrity, navigate complex audits, and provide the strategic insights necessary for MSI Nigeria to scale its reach.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership & Analytics

  • Strategic Advisory: Serve as a core advisor to the Finance Director and Senior Management Team (SMT) on commercial investments, risk mitigation, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Business Intelligence: Produce sophisticated financial analysis for clinical centers and social marketing channels, providing daily insights into sales performance and operational efficiency.
  • Sustainable Growth: Identify and champion innovative financing models and cost-reduction initiatives to expand the reach of our social business across both public and private sectors.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Annual Planning: Orchestrate the organizational business planning process, ensuring that annual budgets and rolling forecasts are accurate and aligned with global MSI standards.
  • Expansion Support: Partner with channel leads to evaluate the financial viability of new service offerings, geographical expansions, and product launches.
  • Trend Analysis: Monitor expenditure trends and debt aging, proactively flagging risks to regional managers to maintain healthy cash flows.

Grant Management & Donor Compliance

  • Donor Relations: Lead the development of complex donor budgets (e.g., KfW, GF, CIFF) ensuring they adhere to global pricing standards and contractual obligations.
  • Reporting Excellence: Oversee the submission of timely, high-quality financial reports that meet the stringent transparency requirements of international partners.
  • Cost Recovery: Strengthen systems for tracking restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring meticulous donor coding and shared cost allocations.

Audit, Tax, and Internal Controls

  • Statutory Compliance: Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring all financial statements are accurate and recommendations are implemented promptly.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Manage tax health checks and ensure the organization meets all Nigerian statutory obligations and filing deadlines.
  • Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular assessments of cash management, inventory processes, and commercial contracts to protect the organization’s assets.

Candidate Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Background: Master’s Degree (minimum 2nd Class Upper) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification: Mandatory recognized professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Professional Experience: 8–12 years of post-NYSC experience in senior financial management, ideally spanning both the NGO/INGO sector and commercial business environments.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, SUN Accounting, Power BI, and expert-level Excel skills.
  • Donor Fluency: Deep working knowledge of the financial regulations and reporting styles of major donors such as KfW, ECHO, CIFF, and the Global Fund.
  • Interpersonal Prowess: Exceptional ability to communicate financial complexities to non-financial stakeholders and build relationships with senior government and commercial partners.
  • Personal Attributes: Unwavering ethical standards, the ability to handle sensitive information with total confidentiality, and a proactive, resilient approach to problem-solving.
