The Role: Programme Manager (Strategic Leadership)
Location: Lagos, Nigeria Job Type: Full-time
The Programme Manager is a strategic, high-impact position responsible for designing, managing, and scaling LEAP Africa’s youth development and leadership programmes.
You will drive innovation, strengthen internal systems, inspire programmatic teams, and ensure that every programme delivers measurable, transformational impact across the continent. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment, enjoys building and leading high-performing teams, and is profoundly committed to advancing Africa’s development story.
Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)
1. Strategic Leadership & Programme Design
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and continuous refinement of world-class youth development curricula and programme models.
- Develop robust frameworks that enhance programme quality, financial sustainability, and potential for large-scale replication and impact.
- Ensure all programme strategies are deeply aligned with LEAP Africa’s overall mission and strategic goals.
2. Programme Delivery & Impact Management
- Oversee the end-to-end implementation and execution of flagship programmes across multiple geographical locations.
- Take full ownership of managing project timelines, budgets, rigorous reporting schedules, and ensuring the timely delivery of all donor requirements with excellence.
- Facilitate high-level training sessions, workshops, and represent LEAP Africa at key events and engagements.
3. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Directly lead, coach, and mentor programme staff, fostering a high-performance culture characterized by accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (including Communications, M&E, and Finance) to ensure strong synergy and optimal execution of all initiatives.
4. Partnerships & Resource Mobilisation
- Cultivate and maintain strong, productive relationships with existing partners, funders, government institutions, and critical stakeholders.
- Play a key role in resource mobilisation by developing compelling, high-quality technical proposals, concept notes, and contributing actively to overall fundraising strategies.
5. Advocacy & Thought Leadership
- Create and contribute significant content to articles, policy briefs, research products, and advocacy tools.
- Actively amplify LEAP Africa’s voice and expertise within the youth leadership, social innovation, and public policy ecosystems in Africa.
Candidate Profile (Who You Are)
We are looking for a Programme Manager who embodies both outstanding competence and character:
Experience and Qualifications
- A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (or equivalent professional qualification).
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in programme management, with 5+ years specifically in the youth development or non-profit sector.
- Proven track record of excellence in the full cycle of programme design, successful project management, effective Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), and professional facilitation.
