Solina Centre for International Development and Research (SCIDaR) is an indigenous nonprofit institution that works to accelerate positive health, social and economic reforms through high-quality program design and implementation, capacity building, implementation science research and knowledge generation, as well as agenda-setting and stakeholder convening across human development sectors.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: State Program Lead 

Location: Kano
Job Type: 18 months

Role Summary

  • The Kano State Lead will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight for all project activities in the state. This includes ensuring effective planning, execution, and monitoring of the MDA campaign while working closely with the program manager, government stakeholders, relevant partners, and local teams.
  • The State Lead will also ensure that all activities are implemented in compliance with project protocols, ethical guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Furthermore, the State Lead will be responsible for fostering collaboration among stakeholders, addressing challenges, and ensuring the timely delivery of project goals. 

Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the SARMAAN MDA-AZM implementation in Kano State, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines;
  • Work closely with the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KNSPHCMB) and other relevant health authorities to ensure seamless implementation;
  • Provide leadership and oversight to field teams conducting drug distribution, community mobilization, and awareness activities;
  • Supervise data collection, monitoring, and reporting activities, ensuring high-quality and timely submission of program data;
  • Conduct real-time data analysis and visualization using online dashboards to track program performance and support evidence-based decision-making;
  • Identify program gaps, challenges, and risks, and develop solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders;
  • Coordinate advocacy and stakeholder engagement efforts to ensure strong political and community support for the MDA campaign;
  • Ensure adherence to all ethical guidelines, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures for the MDA campaign;
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on program performance, challenges, and achievements to donors, partners and relevant stakeholders;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Director.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in the field of health management, public health or a related field; 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare management or public health, with a focus on PHC;
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare landscape in the state; 
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.

  • Proficient in English and Hausa languages; 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders; 
  • Ability to manage people, resources and processes to implement and monitor strategies with substantial outcomes.
