Global Peace Development (GPD) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in April 2002 and focuses on promoting peace for development in Nigeria. The organization envisions a country where peace and development is enjoyed by all. GPD seeks to build peace, gender equality, social justice, and foster democracy and governance at the community, local, state, and national levels.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Computer Instructor
Location: Damaturu, Yobe
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
- We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Computer Instructor to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science or IT, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching.
- You will be responsible for instructing students in basic to advanced computer skills, software applications, and internet usage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging computer lessons and practical sessions.
- Teach a variety of computer-related subjects, including Microsoft Office, Internet & Email, and basic hardware/software troubleshooting.
- Prepare instructional materials and resources.
- Evaluate and monitor student progress through assignments and tests.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to students when needed.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience as a computer instructor
- Proven experience as a computer instructor or IT trainer.
- Strong knowledge of computer systems, software applications, and networking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Teaching certification (optional but an advantage).
- Ability to adapt lessons for students with different learning needs.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with educational tools like Google Classroom or Moodle.
- Programming skills (HTML, CSS, Python, etc.) are a plus.
- Experience teaching both children and adults.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple language
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to use Corel Draw and other graphic tools for design.
