Purpose of the Position
The Finance Unit ensures financial integrity, efficiency, and sustainability across eHealth Africa. It oversees budgeting, reporting, risk management, and compliance, supporting informed decision-making. By implementing robust financial controls, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining alignment with donor requirements and regulatory standards, the Finance Unit safeguards eHA’s fiscal health. Through data-driven financial strategies, it enhances operational efficiency and ensures the long-term financial sustainability of the organization’s mission driven initiatives.
The Account Manager serves as a senior level financial expert responsible for leading the execution and oversight of the organization’s core accounting functions. This role ensures adherence to financial regulations, supports internal control improvements, and manages accounting operations across all business units and funding streams. S/he plays a key role in financial decision-making by delivering accurate, timely reporting and supporting cross departmental coordination on financial performance and compliance.

What you’ll do
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
━ Lead and maintain general ledger integrity, ensuring accurate journal entries, timely trial balances, and reliable financial reporting.
━ Design, implement, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls to meet evolving statutory, donor, and organizational compliance standards.
━ Oversee cost allocation frameworks, payroll systems, and intercompany reconciliations, supporting accurate budgeting and cross-functional financial reporting.
━ Serve as the primary liaison for audits and reviews, managing engagements with regulators, statutory auditors, and internal financial compliance teams.
━ Collaborate with internal departments including Programs, HR, Procurement, and Operations to ensure budget alignment and consistent financial documentation.
━ Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing technical leadership and promoting continuous improvement in accounting practices.
━ Support executive leadership and external consultants during due diligence, audits, and tax filings, offering reliable financial insight and documentation.
━ Deliver statutory and donor financial reports that are timely, complete, and compliant with relevant financial frameworks.
━ Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate tax calculations, statutory deductions, and regulatory filings are processed effectively.
━ Manage efficient month-end close activities, including journal reviews, adjustment approvals, and reconciliation accuracy.
━ Continuously evaluate the performance of financial systems and audit protocols, implementing enhancements to strengthen accountability and control.
━ Ensure transparency and legitimacy of accounts payable and financial documentation, maintaining rigorous data integrity and audit readiness.

━ Compliance Advocate – Ensures consistent adherence to tax laws, audit standards, statutory guidelines, and donor-specific reporting protocols.
━ Collaborative Communicator – Translates complex accounting insights into actionable recommendations for diverse internal teams and external stakeholders.
━ Process Optimization Enthusiast– Skilled in identifying inefficiencies and embedding control mechanisms, automation tools, and process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience
━ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Preferably master’s degree.
━ Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role. Preferably within an NGO or nonprofit.
━ Proficiency with accounting reporting standards and softwares (e.g., NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
━ Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams on donor-funded projects.
Certifications and Licenses
ACCA, ACA, CPA, ICAN certifications or the equivalent are desired
