Main Purpose of the Position
To provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of passengers and goods, while ensuring the vehicle is well-maintained, compliant with safety and security regulations, and operated in accordance with organizational procedures and local traffic laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport authorized passengers and goods in line with approved movement plans and organizational procedures.
- Ensure passenger safety at all times, including compliance with seatbelt use, traffic laws, and security protocols.
- Conduct daily and weekly checks of the assigned vehicle (fuel, oil, tires, brakes, equipment, etc.), ensuring it is in good working condition and clean at all times.
- Arrange and follow up on vehicle servicing and promptly report any mechanical issues or incidents to the Logistics Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle documentation, including logbooks, fuel records, and movement sheets.
- Ensure all required vehicle and driver documents are valid and available in the vehicle.
- Ensure proper loading, transport, and delivery of goods, including verification of documentation and handover to recipients.
- Communicate regularly with the logistics team, including reporting movements, delays, or any incidents.
- Adhere to all security procedures during movements, including at checkpoints and in field locations.
- Ensure passengers are properly briefed on and comply with safety and security rules.
- Maintain professional conduct, respect confidentiality, and uphold organizational values in all interactions.
Requirements
- Qualification: Essential literacy and valid driving license.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience. Experience driving 4×4 vehicles or similar is an asset. Previous experience with MSF or another NGO is desirable.
- Languages: Essential Good command of English and local language(s).
- Skills and Knowledge: Good knowledge of local roads and routes. Basic mechanical knowledge is an asset. Strong understanding of road safety and vehicle maintenance. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
